I was at the home game. That was my first Boro match. 60 yrs ago and still going to all the home matches possible, and selected away games.28th December 1964 I think...54,750 in attendance.
It was a Monday as Xmas day was a Friday and so Boxing Day holiday shifted to the Monday.
A northerly flooded south Xmas day giving snow showers down the eastern side. This cleared Boxing day but stayed cold, but warmed up by new year.
Also we played them Boxing day at Ayresome a few days earlier...and lost 2 - 0...so this was the Xmas double over us. 38,194 at the Ayresome game.
My first ever Boro shirt,a Xmas present from Jack Hatfields,No singing. Just 'open outcry' and somewhat negative. And rattles!
Also, I didn't realise the 'yoke' shirt design was that recent.
I was in the bob end for the Boxing Day game. Good mix of local fans and Geordies, pre bother days.28th December 1964 I think...54,750 in attendance.

Back then the cameras were at the back of the south east corner above the terrace. Similar to the position of them in this match. Many years ago a game would have been played on a christmas day!
I remember when the commentary Bix was in the corner of the south stand.
