Newcastle penalty...

Football is being ruined by these policy makers. His arm has to be slightly out to get some lift.
I can see forwards being told, even trained to aim deliberately at opposition players arms wherever they can now. How is it right that Skunks get a penalty for that and yet we don’t get one for a deliberate pull back in front of a referee and Lino?

VAR and interpretations will turn fans away from the game if it continues as it is.

It's because the law has been changed to justify VAR and allow it to make black and white decisions.
Bin VAR and the laws would have to change back to 'in the referees opinion'.
You'd still have controversy, but you'd have consistency across all levels of the game and not this 2 tier system if refereeing we have now. Outside the PL that doesn't get given 90% of the time.

VAR will destroy the game either directly or by the changes made to the rules to accommodate it, the handball situation is a joke. What we are actually seeing is that without it refs and linesmen did an OK job in reality. I did hope that VAR might sort out diving but it's actually a divers charter. Any contact and a penalty is given, there's no effort made to decide if the contact warranted the attacker hitting the deck. I suspect that it would have given the Sane one against us back in 2017. Absolute :poop:

I like VAR. I think it brings drama. And it gets decisions right that you simply wouldn’t get right. But if this interpretation of the handball rule is to stick it will ruin football. It just isn’t morally right to give handball for some of these decisions.

The games almost unwatchable. We have seen teams score in the 94th/96th/97th and one after full time (100th min).

It's an absolute 'joke'. They had pre season and most of lockdown to adjust this shambles. They have somehow made it worse with the rule change.

Brighton scored in the 94th min yesterday and I didn't even cheer and I was only listing on the radio in my car. I just thought 'it's getting checked and probably ruled out' 😕

I am so glad it's not on the EFL. I also doubt it will be any time soon (who's gonna vote it in?). I get we may have had a pen yesterday for the challange on Hall. I still prefer it now thinking 'we just didn't get it' than putting up with VAR every 10 mins.

I am quiet happy looking at the linesman and ref running back to the halfway line and thinking 'it's a goal' 👍

I hate var.but i will say dyer twice jumped not looking at the ball facing the other way n spread himself. Now thst might have been a that cant be a penalty tactic. That said. Cos its a guess. It was never n should never be a penner. Games getting ruined. Tv for facts only

I honestly think attackers are now trying to play the ball to hand now, just like they would rather go down to win a penalty than actually try to score, I think Roy Hodgson’s words yesterday took 1 day to come true today.

Yeah, you can imagine training tomorrow. 'Right lads, when you get the ball, don't whip it into the far post, leather it straight at the defender's hand...'
