New Signings? Automatic Promotion?

I think automatic promotion is gone they are both probably better squads than us and have a massive head start on us. I can't see us splashing 10 millions plus on stewart or 15 to 20 on gyokeres. I do think we replace Muniz if he goes back but probably with another loan. Barlaser may sign if not we will try in the summer. I suspect Carrick with sign a youngster from man utd.

I think 11 points is a lot to make up even with current form. I can’t see Burnley or Sheffield u skipping up to that extent. I’d like to think carrick was supported in the market and see what happens rather than throwing the kitchen sink at an improbability. Next season, hit the ground running
To be fair I dont either however we all thought the same at this point last year for both Bournemouth and Fulham and the gap really closed, as we know the championship is a strange old league, injuries, players sold dip in form!

Burnley seem like they’re full steam ahead, Catching up with Sheffield would be nothing short of a miracle..although I said that about reaching the top six!

£10m + on Ross Stewart? If he doesn’t go to Brentford maybe a swap deal including McNair will be on the cards? Tony Mowbray will come out of the window with a stronger squad, whether he brings in Jerry Yates from Blackpool or Reda Khadra from Sheff Utd.. he will get them ticking!

Ellis Simms back to Everton could be a makeweight for a Viktor Gyokeres deal..
£20m still feels a little heavy, but maybe it will stack up.

Cameron Archer is said to be leaving Aston Villa this January, they are in for Ismaila Sarr from Watford so maybe a deal can be done between the two sides?

Ben Brereton Díaz won’t be leaving Blackburn for free this summer and looks to fit our system, recruitments and players.. £10m from us would tick all the boxes imo
Also a certain Rodrigo Muniz appears to be more suited to their system of play..

11 Dan Barlaser - Rotherham
12 Jan Paul Van Hecke - Brighton
22 Ben Brereton Díaz - Blackburn

Massimo Luongo - Ipswich?
Paddy McNair - Rangers?
Rodrigo Muniz - Blackburn?

Stick a few Man Utd loans in the mix and we’ll be good to go?
Pellestri like Brereton looks on paper at least to be a ‘nailed on’ boro signing for January.

I like the look of Shola Shoretire from Utd academy also! local lad, ready for the step up.

Doubt we’ll spend more than we were going to in the summer.. but it’s there and it would be worth it.

Carrick needs to get on the blower to old trafford and do whatever is necessary to get them to cut short Hannibals loan at Brum and get him to us.
Him and Hackney would be formidable.

I think Hackney benefits from having Howson's experience alongside him - with another young player he might not look so composed. We definitely need to replace Howson long term but it should be a proven schemer who, like Howson, can provide the stability for Hackney to continue to flourish

There’s a few cute moves that Hackney looks to have lifted from Howson’s handbook.. great position to be in playing alongside Howson and having Carrick giving you pointers.

Need to work on the defensive side of your game? Speak to Jonathan Woodgate every day!

Top 2 are long gone. Given how tight the championship has been this season and the gaps they have, they'd have to have relegation form not to go up, and with their squads and finance I can't see it.

All signings should be geared towards helping a play off push this term, without destabilising or reducing the budget for a big push in the summer.

Realistically the top 2 are gone.. crazily optimistically 2nd place is not mathematically off the cards. 88 points anybody?

69-77 points would be a fantasy achievement and it’s all to play for once you’re in the playoffs! Upgrade the fringe players and we’re steady away!

If we get the opportunity to do something special I think we should take it.

auto would be an absolute miracle, it's near impossible. We need 4 wins and a draw more than Sheff Utd. Even if they dropped to 1.5 points per game (they're almost 2 points per game at the moment), then we would need 43 points from 20 games, 13 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats. They've got too much firepower to drop to 1.5 points, and we won't score more than 2 points a game for the next 20

I'll bite your hand off for a guarantee of play offs right now.

That would require Sheff Utd to get 37 pts or less over 20 games - 1.85 ppg - so a drop off in form from their current 1.96 and for us to take 49 pts from 20 games - 2.45 ppg (112 pts over a full 46 game season) or to put it another way 15 wins 4 draws and 1 defeat. That's Ali Brownlee levels of optimism!!!!

1.5ppg gets them to 81
2ppg gets us to 79

this season’s entire average has us at 1.5ppg and if we continue that we’ll land on 69 points.. I think we’ve got more in the tank after our worst ever start in our history.

74 should cut it about 1.7ppg from here on in

77 should guarantee playoffs at 1.9ppg

2.2ppg gets us to 83 points..

Agree with all of the above. The top 2 are deservedly well clear and still playing well (Sheff Utd getting a last minute draw).
Re. New players - will be interesting to see how Carrick's and the coaching team's view of players lines up with the recruitment team. Carrick can obviously see things in players (e.g. Chuba, Crooks, even Forss out wide right) that are maybe not obvious to others. Next test of his management is how he can spot a player - potentially he could be better than the recruitment team. Be interesting to see who comes through the door and if there are some surprises in there, now that Carrick is in charge. Interesting times....

I think we will make the play offs, hoping still to make 3rd or 4th for second leg at home advantage.

We have no chance of top two. We are too far behind and sadly are just not good enough to make the gap back.
Making the play offs after the poor start will be a great recovery, but we are still a long way off being a good side IMHO.

Scrape into the playoffs on some seasons with that total
78 would almost certainly guarentee playoffs. It would have got you into the playoffs 18 out of the last 20 seasons (19 with decent goal difference). There was one mad season where you needed 80 but generally 70-75pts gets you in.
