New Shirt Sponsor Hunt To Begin?

We are in the Sky Bet Championship. So I presume that its OK for the FA to take money off betting companies, but not the clubs.

Oh well, at least the clubs have their gate receipts to keep them going....

I imagine that will be forced to change too.

We don't advertise fags and beer on footie shirts anymore, losing a.betting company from the other side of the world that only addicts or die hard supporters would use is no great loss.

I'll BET it dont happen.

the gambling lobbyists will see to that, so will a few donations to the tories
Weren't we saying the same things about the tobacco advertising ban all those years ago though?

probably.

it took 20 years though, and it was the Health Act 2006 that brought in the ban in workplaces.

i'm in favour of banning 'gambling' sponsorship in football and have been since its conception (its why i stopped buying football shirts) - but this smacks of 'kite flying' and it'll be quite a while for it to come to fruition.

Well they didn't have much luck in stopping the maximum £2 spin on FOBTs which has cost millions.

If the tories could easily be swayed by a few gambling lobbyists that would never have happened

I actually agree and I think that the ban on gambling companies is long overdue. I personally think that gambling brings many people debt, addiction and misery.

I just think that the timing is particularly strange considering many clubs are absolutely on their knees during this pandemic, and now they may be hit in the pocket due to losing sponsorship .

Don't get me wrong, I stick a quid on an ACCA every weekend of domestic football but that's it, I see it as I'm more likely to win something on that than the lottery for instance.

But like you say these companies are EVERYWHERE in football now.

The Government were also going to make sure people had to register with their broadband provider if they wanted to access online pornography.

The government currently can't be specific about what is happening next week, never mind 12-18 months down the line.

I fully expect Matt Vickers to have more success with his war on dog dirt than the government achieving anything with this beyond the PR headlines.
