Good news for fans of English teams as the FA have introduced new rules stating that clubs must consult with fans and have the approval of the majority before making any changes to the club crest or home shirt colours.

If only this rule was in place when Boro changed the badge in 2007.

A lot of other clubs too, classic 70's badges disgarded for horrible, modern day versions

What did those ‘classic’ 70s badges replace though?

Don’t get me wrong, I think most of the modern club crests are terrible. There’s a danger, however, that we all get stuck in one particular era.

Clubs started to wear crests in the 70's, before that they never had any on their shirts
