New police guidelines on 'reasonable excuse' to go out

You'll do what you want fluffy, unless what you said earlier was incorrect and you were just spoiling for an argument.
I haven't made any rules, but I have commented on how my apparently high moral compass has made me interpret the government guidelines in the way I have and why I also understand the problems some people will face to replicate my approach and how there are people who will simply do what the hell they like.
My choices are not based on a fear for my own mortality, rather that if I get infected I would possibly be passing a death sentence on members of my household and indirectly on anyone I have come into contact with.
Those are the answers to the questions I've asked myself and why I won't be making unnecessary journeys to exercise even though the guidelines allow me to do so.
Look at Gaz's post above. If you find anything wrong with that then that really is your problem.

If the woods are only a 5-7 minute drive away, couldn't you just run there and add that to the run you do anyway?
I plan on doing that tomorrow actually, but it’s 3.5- 4km to the entrance so it’s 7-8km before even done any of the ‘wood’ run

I haven’t actually decided whether I would drive to the woods yet. I probably will, because it’s safer for everyone, unless when I go it’s busy then I would have to re-evaluate

These discussions, arguments, are happening the length and breadth of the country because (as dood said) of the vagueness of direction.

Hate to say it but - we are being played. The government are winning by a mile. Their ratings sore as the public blames each other

I will say this for the last time, I have no problem with what anyone does as long as they've asked themselves some questions around their choices and they are happy with their answers.
If someone turns round and says I'll do what I like and eff everyone else then I will treat them with the contempt that I and many others think they deserve. I'm sure everyone here would think the same.
What I consider an unnecessary journey is clearly different to what others do, on a very wide spectrum too apparently and that is entirely down to my personal circumstances, not some high moral compass or rules I've never actually made.

At last common sense. I posted about this weeks ago and got dogs abuse back from some, specifically - RandySavage, Spannishman and Malaguena, who resorted to abuse rather than trying to argue their case, and despite the fact that I'd clearly stated that I was sticking to the guidelines but didn't agree with them.

In fact Snowflakeman got so upset with Fluffycarpet and myself that he hit the "Ignore" ......:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

So this latest clarification kind of makes you sad individuals look like fools now doesn't it. I won't wait for an apology

From Thread "Those People Sat in Parks Today"

Fluffy and Konrad just reinforcing the point - "I know best and I'll do what I want" - Malaguena

Why don't you understand the risk of driving somewhere remote for a 'walk'?
Are you one of the 'im alright jack' folks? - RandySavage

And these idiots will be the first to complain when an italian style lockdown is brought in once Boris is back running the daily press conferences. - RandySavage

I have and have come to the conclusion that you can't reason with stupidity. Of course these fools know better don't they until they are begging for oxygen on a side ward somewhere 👀 - RandySavage

Driving somewhere for a walk or exercise is just a **** poor excuse to get around the government's instructions, why try and deny that? Come on don't be so naive. - RandySavage

Sorry - just seen this ....

You'll have a long wait for an apology from me because you're just reinforcing the point I made - you're choosing to interpret the unclear guidance to suit what you as an individual want - so, only one sad individual here, and it's not me

There is nothing wrong with discussions about it. But people are to quick to judge other people who are not doing anything wrong.

Like I said I wouldn't wait for an apology as I don't expect one, and by the way there is nothing unclear about the guidelines they are crystal clear.

Well no, they’re not are they - they’re open to interpretation - as you are doing - and that’s the problem.

Look - my last word on this. My son, 22 years old, in the U.K., is a front line worker, happily going into work to do his bit, and I’m bloody proud of him My mate’s daughter, 22 years old, nurse, currently in an ICU, fighting the virus that she undoubtedly caught looking after C19 patients.

People like you - ok, I’ll depersonalise it, some people - are happily interpreting the “recommendations” to suit themselves, and have their exercise that they think is their right, but sure as fcking hell will expect to be treated if they do catch it - and I sincerely hope you don’t.

I’ve just watched 3 consecutive adverts on Channel 4 saying “stay at home and save the NHS” - in the words of Nike - just fcking do it

The guidelines are clear:

It’s reasonable to exercise

it’s legal to travel to exercise

not sure how you can interoperate it any other wah

"People like you - ok, I’ll depersonalise it, some people" No need to be an a*se. The majority of people will go by the guidelines. If you have a problem then it really is tough sh*t.

I think a lot of this discussion in this thread has risen because the weather is good at the moment.
What will the general population do I wonder when the weather turns for the worse which it will do sooner rather than later 😀

Someone has just been through all the government advice on stying safe, social distancing etc. After much analysis they believe they have interpreted the government’s direction and can now be unequivocal:
1. Do not leave your home
2. If you can think of a reason to leave then fair enough.
