New Music

Tea For The Tillerman 2 was released yesterday. Better production than the original (as expected) a couple of the songs (Wild World and Longer Boats) a little disappointing. Otherwise a good effort.

I get sent new releases from Mutante records - I think this is interesting from The Green Child

Fashion Light' is taken from The Green Child's forthcoming album 'Shimmering Basset', out this October on Upset The Rhythm.
THE GREEN CHILD is the once long-distance, now based in the same house recording project of Raven Mahon (furniture maker and former member of Grass Widow) and Mikey Young (recording engineer and band member of Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring). The duo draw their spectral pop sound from an illusory past as much as they stalk into pastures new. Broadly retro-futuristic in scope, verdant acres of lushly evocative synthesizers and vintage drum machines underpin most of The Green Child’s upbeat yet decidedly uncanny songs. Raven's calmly scenic and measured vocal flits like a will-o'-the-wisp throughout the tracks, proffering a guiding hand as she walks us through the often eerie electronic concoctions.

This is a fantastic version of Michael Nesmith's Different Drum which is one of my favourite songs. The Lemonheads version is superb as well.

Tanya Donelly and the Parkington Sisters - Different Drum

As is the Susannah Hoffs/Matthew Sweet version imo.

I love them but it was a live performance on Jools Holland a few years ago that got me into them rather than an album or particular song, the singer is fascinating to watch, some might say ridiculous but I say fascinating!

Have you seen them live? I caught them at Leeds a few years back and Herring kept his moves and energy up for the entire gig.

Very nice (y) Album not released until Feb 2021  Dare say there'll be all that streaming lark available though!
