New Contracts

with up to 7 players out of contract at the end of the season you'd think the players would show they deserve a new deal. over the last 3 games many just can't be arsed imo (3 games 0 shots on target against the bottom 3).
in fact I'd even consider ripping up a few of those whose contract isn't running out.

woodgate says he left the younger players out cos he needed experience but that worked well for him didn't it!!.

at least the younger players are putting a shift in.

rant over...lol

The “experience” line really annoyed me yesterday as it’s desperation tactics when you start blaming the young uns like that.
oh and it’s also bollox a well.

It’s sheer desperation from an out of his depth manager. He’s clueless, completely incapable, his sound bites and platitudes are getting right on my t*ts.

It sounded eerily similar to strachan’s... “I want men” speech ( which was also bollox as well).

Friend looked very poor yesterday. Watching the man and only going for the ball when he was sure to be beaten. We were missing any leadership on the field, something you'd expect from Friend.

Bear sorry mate but the first part of that is b0llocks. Going for the ball when he was sure to be beaten. He was no worse than the rest of defence. For me it was midfield and up front where we lost that game.

If he'd gone for the ball fine. He thought he'd be able to get between man and ball but as soon as he realised he wasn't going to get to the ball, the player was past him.

This was regarding new contracts and, although I've always thought Friend was a great professional, I don't think we should renew. Coulson came on and looked like a footballer.

The game was lost (just by a fluke goal) in midfield. We were one man short by playing Britt and Fletcher and two men short as Morrison contributed little. This left Saville and Wing to cover half the pitch each.

This idea that you need experienced players when in a relegation dogfight is rubbish, as is Woodgates' belief that they have the required 'character'.

If you want players with character and fight - look no further than the likes of Spence, Coulson and Tav.

These are young lads who will make mistakes and have their limitations, but they will bust a gut for the cause. That's the kind of player you need when in a relegation dogfight.

We have 6 regular senior first Teamers with contracts expiring in the summer. What is their motivation to perform?
Most of them have at least a season or two left in them and their transfer fee will be converted into a pay packet.

In this world of me me. I would be surprised/shocked if any of them are here next season. Also be surprised if they themselves don't know where they will be. Cynical but their new clubs will have the contract already prepared
