New Boro Kit

No that's Preston you Rodney Plonker!

To be fair most kit manufacturers use the same template across multiple teams, teams much bigger than us have to share templates.
The same template yeah sure.. but not the exact same fcking kit! They’ve just re-badged Preston’s gear and palmed it off into us. There’s is NOTHING in those four kits that says Middlesbrough. It’s our 150th Anniversary and there is nothing. Palmed off castoffs from the company coming to us to save their reputation and promising unique bespoke kits. They are a total blag.

Can't you read?

It says Middlesbrough on each of them, and the first team shirt is pretty good, get rid of the gold for me.

It's more like Boro kits over time than any of the recent shirts with too much white on them.

If I held the Preston kits together against the Boro kits I would be able to differentiate between them by reading the badge yes.

The red kit with the pissy yellow trim does not resemble any Boro kit I have ever seen. It’s not recognisable as a Boro kit and it doesn’t read like a Boro kit. Not one of the kits from this season hold an ounce of identity from Middlesbrough on or off the pitch.

They must have some analysis for this being best.

But odd.
They do but it is another situation where the club do something differently to everyone else so either the club are much smarter than every other business in the world or their model is based on false assumptions. We're using the same model today that we used in the 90s as if nothing has changed.

What it boils down to is that they prioritise margin in their calculations. They assume they will sell N shirts. The will pay as little as possible to get them produced and then sell them for as much as they can so their margin is Y. Profit is N x Y. They don't seem to factor in that N is not a fixed number and may change if Y is a different number.

Based on all the information we have over the years including repeated mistakes with not having enough stock, having to switch suppliers and blaming them, the answers provided by the club during Q&As etc the only conclusion is that they are useless. I don't know who is useless. It may be the shop, it may be the head of retail, it may be the CEO or it may be Gibson or a combination of all of them but someone is making the same mistakes repeatedly and not learning from them or doing anything differently (like every other business in the world). The fact that we have our own unique way of doing everything from retail to ticketing to running the concourse bars etc it probably isn't the people running the shop that are the problem.

Popped over to the club shop this afternoon to check out the new kits. Empty shelves inside apart from some nice but expensive training gear. All 4 new kits in the window so I was limited to gawping at them. Haven't changed my opinion at all. All very generic, no unique detail apart from the background of the yellow kit. Very disappointed, I was hoping they'd look better in the flesh, they don't. Most disappointing was the away kit which I originally thought looked good, it's just Preston etc...
The new club badges on the stadium look good though.

I’ve taken the anniversary plunge, ordered a home shirt and the fleece shorts for me, away and a matchday top for the boy. You’re only 150 once!

Ordered the blank home top. I've been whinging long enough about having the choice of a sponsor less top and love the crest a lot more than the previous one. First shirt I've had in well over 15 years.
