Netflix stopping password sharing

It's been rolled out in Latin America, Canada, portugal and Spain already so they've already got an idea of how people will react.

Yeah there are a lot but Netflix is the biggest with 235m subs. Amazon prime has 200m but that's a bit of a fake figure as everyone with prime gets it as a benefit

Disney has about 157m. Having a lead of 78 million monthly fee paying users gives you a lot of leeway and the content doesn't crossover between services - people will subscribe to the service that has the content they want to watch as Netflix is already more expensive than Disney, paramount etc and people still subscribe.

They have 235 million subscribers bringing in over £2 billion A MONTH and you are defending them wanting even more money?!

Not sure what your point is here. They're a business, they exist to make money, and to make that money they spend vast sums of money. They're not some altruistic charity.

That said. I'm not defending how much money they make, but they are entitled to make money and how they see fit. Greed doesn't come into it. They're in a high competition industry and no longer enjoy a position where they're pretty much the only option, with new services launching all the time.

They're also entitled to make the rules on how people use their service. They used to offer 1 month trials but withdrew them because people abused them by making new emails all the time. Withdrawing that doesn't make them greedy, just like this doesn't. It just means they're not giving their product away for free.

I have Netflix through Virginbut tried to go on my son's Netflix that I normally use and it was asking me to confirm I am part of the main household, etc before I could watch. Obviously, I didn't take it any further than that.

Jeez…. 🙄

You can be a bell end about it if you like, you're right that is your entitlement. If there is a cost of living crisis then paying for Netflix should be pretty far down people's priorities. It certainly was mine and I cancelled it a year ago, anyone else with an issue with it can do the same.

Netflix probably wouldn't be as expensive as it was if everyone wasn't sharing it with 3 mates, so people have brought it on themselves. Netflix doesn't owe anyone the right to access their service without paying for it. They're in a competitive business, they can do what they like.

If you're using the service as intended you won't have any problems

If you're account sharing, it's time to cough up like everyone else has been rather than have them subsidise your mates.

You’ll be able to afford to sign back up with all the £50 rewards you are getting from Octopus 👍

Isn’t this just a fair cop?
Seems similar to Spotify and the Spotify ‘family’ service.

We’ve been rumbled too - so have a choice. Prob not going to trade up, hardly use it anyway.

Not really. Their competitors eg Amazon, Disney, allow password sharing. In fact, Netflix are the only TV streaming service that doesn’t.
