Neil Warnock Post Match Presser

I’ll be honest I didn’t want Warnock at all and thought it was a short term appointment that would set us back.
How wrong was I? I love listening to his press conferences and the honesty he gives. No sound bites just a man chatting like a fan in the pub. I like how he was not afraid to drop the wing backs because they weren’t performing and has promoted people based on performances in training. I also like the way he’s got us set up with the flexibility at the back. Not the rigid boring approach I was expecting.
We’ve got a long way to go still but he’s certainly changed my opinion on him.

I agree I was going to post the same thing myself but you beat me to it. Just listened to his post match conference and it was enjoyable to hear him talk with humour and honesty. I too thought that he was not for me and wouldn't want him at the Boro but I am a convert too. He's like a breath of fresh air and his enthusiasm for the game is infectious.

The best presser I've heard in years. He just loves to chat (probably winning helps). He often just goes off on a tangent about 'life'.

He takes very openly and says things as they are. He seems pretty happy with what he's getting from the squad. A few quotes were interesting or amusing...

He thinks Roberts is coming into a very different Boro team than the one he left👍. Also it means we can go 4-3-3.

I did chuckle when he said 'if I'd told you at the start of the season that Mcnair and Dijksteel would be my CBs you have thought I'd gone cookoo😂'

I also liked how honest he was about why he dropped Johnson and Spence. They didn't do it in training....fairplay👍. That's a warning to anyone.

I honestly thought we had far too many problems as a club for him to make it work.
I`m obviously glad that we are starting to move in what appears to be the right direction under his management

Like the way he has got the wingbacks forward in the opposition half and even got Paddy and Dijksteel pushing up like Sheffield United defenders! Also liked the way he asked the dressing room to applaud Dael Fry after the match for getting back to form after getting the virus. That must really please the player and fill him with confidence. Looks like he is the sort of Manager who you would want to play for. He said Paddy was like Beckenbauer last week. Expect Roberts to be like Messi by Christmas! He tells you it straight but also praises you when you get it right. (y)

I'm buzzing, great Saturday night, 1st home win of the year & the man in charge who I have wanted for over 10 years, probably my favourite present manager to not manage the Boro, until he walked through the door after Gibbo had finally seen sense
He's everything I expected from him, excellent man manager & if its right regarding Fry then its something I expect from an excellent man manager who has proved time after time throughout his career that he gets the best & more from all players who play under him, no matter where the teams are when he 1st goes there & he will do it at the Boro
If he gets the players he wants when the window finally closes then we'll do really well this season & all down to the NW factor

I would have paid to be at that Press Conference. NW is maturing like a fine wine, seems to almost know exactly what to say at the right time and some great man management. I suspect he is managing us all including the directors, in a positive way so the team reach their full potential this season. Long may it continue.

Never underestimate the effect of a competent manager its the most important part of the football club. I agree with OP in that I was concerned at the start of this season that we needed a long term rebuild and we have a short term manager (supposedly) I was concerned about a large turnover of players and a new man coming in next season if that's how it goes but theres never a doubt we will be competitive in the division with him at the helm and playing some decent stuff to boot. Legend

Agreed and its refreshing to hear him talk in such a down to earth way when so much in football is about money and celebrity these days.

I'm sure Neil would have loved the 50+ Mil Monk threw at it. I have no doubt we would have got better characters. He clearly does back ground checks rather than what the recruitment team throw at him. I read they went back 3 managers asking about Morsy.

I didn't think Monk 'on paper' was the worst. He had a decent season at Leeds and was the next 'up and coming' thing. His scatter gun signing approach and no formation or even regular starting 11 was bizzare.

Woody was the absolute f*ck up. Just madness. I imagine it may have been purely financial. He wouldn't want paying much and no manager who come in with the financial restrictions. I think it was almost 'marking time' for a year until the big earners left.

I never had any issue with warnock. He should have come in 4-5 years ago. The job he did at Rotherham and Cardiff were stunning. I actually think we are very similar in situation to how Cardiff were. I would argue he has better players and more to work with at Boro.

I agree in how he says the leagues wide open. I don't see any standout quality sides. I think secretly he may think he has a chance of the playoffs if he can tweak a couple more things👍

He said that Roberts will be coming back to a 'very different Boro side' to the one he left. So he clearly feels its much more in the Warnock mould. We are looking very solid and ball does go forward much quicker. We were constantly trying to 'turn' Barnsley. It's very much shaping up to have the look of his Cardiff.

Just watched the Quest interview with Warnock, boy he comes across well, my wife who knows absolutely nothing about football said , " I could work with him, seems a really good man,".
Compare that to Woodgates press conferences, arrogant, gum crewing, poor articulation, so chalk and cheese.
Warnock portrays us in a different light, people listen to him and teams will start to become wary of playing us again.
Love what he's doing on the pitch and the way he's raising our profile.
In Neil Warnock we trust and believe.
