Neil putting our strikers down!?

He often says words to the effect that they just aren’t good enough and he’s right.

However it can’t be doing much for their confidence and it certainly doesn’t appear to be having the effect of firing them up to prove him wrong.

it’s a difficult one because they don’t have much to be praised for.

It’s a tough one because if he comes out saying they were unlucky, the fans would turn on him.

The strikers themselves must know they aren’t playing good enough. Britt should be busting a gut to try and get a new club with a decent wage in the summer because at this rate no one will want him. He should be wanting to prove Warnock wrong.

Grown adults, experienced in the job and haven't lived up to expectations throughout most of a contract which has cost a lot of money. I think that in most jobs, your boss wouldn't be too friendly with you based on those things, but the difference is that our bosses don't have access to the media for their gripes.

I mean.. the results speak for themselves. It’s no voodoo curse!!

Warnock will always say it how he sees it and I think he's just about reached the end of his tether with our strikers. Akpom just never has any sort of involvement in games and his movement for a striker is really poor. Assombalonga is just dreadful. His style is just infuriating to watch, head down running into blind alleys, taking all of the tempo out of our attacks. He's too lazy to even get onside half the time. Thank god his contract's up in the summer.

Our strikers are poor. I think Warnock has put all his eggs in one hamstrung basket
If he thinks Akpom is an answer and Britt is captain quality, he's not quite got it. We deffo do need a striker. But so does everyone else

I think that putting them down would be a bit extreme. Are vets even working during lockdown anyway? Neil would probably have to resort to that whole tying them up in a sack and dumping them in the Tees method and that doesn't seem very humane to me. It's only football.

Trouble is they are not grown adults in the sense you want them to be. They are overpaid and mollycoddled millionnaires who will get paid whether they are up for it or not. They have massive egos that need stroking most of the time.

That said he doesnt come out and say the goal keeper plays like he has soap on his hands every week.

Britt is going - thankfully. Akpom needs to go - he simply isn’t up to it. Fletcher? The only one worth keeping. We have no one scoring regularly for the U23/ development- they would be getting a game if they were in anyway prolific.

So saying this we need a minimum of 3 strikers coming in. With our record what confidence can we have on this being got right? Warnock has publicly voiced what many of us have concluded for a while on here. Our strikers are no way up to it.

We've not had good forwards for years. The list is not only endless but also very expensive Rudy / Braithwaite /Hugill / Britt / Fletcher / Akpom.....just a stunning amount of money wasted.

We have an opportunity to clear the decks this summer. It's finally an end to the Monk madness. To think we are only just recovering from his brainless spending. We have not been able to sign any new forwards because we've been stuck with 2 on big contracts.

That doesn't excuse the signing of Akpom. Yes he's' cheap' compered to the others but still looks woefully inadequate and 2.5mil is still a wedge by champo standards.

I have absolutely no faith whatsoever on our recruitment team finding not one but 2 (maybe even 3) new forwards. I can't remember the last time we found a decent one at value for money. The majority of the champo find them for 1-2mil (often less).

I for one have no issues with NW publicly shaming them. We simply wont go up unless one of them starts scoring consistently. You can almost write Britt off. He's got 4 months left and was publicly offered to other clubs in Jan. I doubt he cares a jot about giving his all.

I hope we are also on a search for a proven and decent Goal keeper. That also has to be a priority.

‘The truth hurts’ as they say. Hopefully the strikers will take it on board and knuckle down in training and on the pitch going forward.

They`ve all been round long enough to know whats required.
They are grown men and they need to hear the truth for once: they are collectively just not good enough: not consistently positive in either performance or mentality.
They make the simple pass look like a major operation.
A strike is more likely to hit a pigeon than the back of the net.
Heading in from corners is asking the impossible.
Our "forwards" spend more time on their arz than on their feet.
Collectively they are shambolic - consistently.

Neils given them enough time.

They would certainly hear us [Fans] if we were in the ground - 5 defeats at home in the last 6 !! - Never mind feeling sorry for them! Neil has been more than tolerant and given them all a chance.

Our best crosses are when Marvin gets in behind the full back and whips it low in the middle. When he puts height on it they are poor. Think he should play Saturday though
Agree with that. As he did when he came on belatedly last night. But we haven't got anyone who can accurately chip a ball to a player, although McNair standing off is something our players don't have as a luxury.
