Would loved to have seen him in his prime,Live a bit of Sweet Caroline in our house.
Saw him at the Hydro in Glasgow a few years ago. He said,
“I love it when you ladies scream at me....
.....you make me feel 70 again!”
Would loved to have seen him in his prime,
I maybe wrong but a year or so he was on the Royal Variety at the London Palladium & he said it was his 1st visit on that show, which I thought was unbelievable, someone so talented to have been overlookedI think, for a number of years in the 1970's he was the biggest grossing live performer in America. I think Lionel Richie and then Michael Jackson knocked him off his perch.
I think he is great. He was never 'cool' and never 'naff', he was sort of just him, like he sat outside all that business just by regularly doing songs that your nan could sing along to one week and then something really quite moving and deep then next. Plus that voice.....
