Neil Diamond night

Didn't know he wrote Lulu's hit 'The boat that I row', think she covered it, not too sure, good song

Would loved to have seen him in his prime, 👍

I think, for a number of years in the 1970's he was the biggest grossing live performer in America. I think Lionel Richie and then Michael Jackson knocked him off his perch.

I think he is great. He was never 'cool' and never 'naff', he was sort of just him, like he sat outside all that business just by regularly doing songs that your nan could sing along to one week and then something really quite moving and deep then next. Plus that voice.....

I maybe wrong but a year or so he was on the Royal Variety at the London Palladium & he said it was his 1st visit on that show, which I thought was unbelievable, someone so talented to have been overlooked

I took my parents to see him in 2005 at the Metro Arena Newcastle , and he was superb . We had great seats near the front but to the side , so great view .
A group of Geordie lads had a banner saying Diamond is a Geordie , and we're taking the pith , but his class soon shut them up , and they calmed down .

Watched him in rehearsal in Central Park in the late 80’s, he was amazing. Saw him again at the MEN arena about 5 years ago. Incredible stamina, 2 and a half hours on stage with no breaks. Having said that, the audience sang all the songs for him!

If you get the chance, listen to his cover version of Midnight Train to Georgia from the Dreams album, pure class. Piano and acoustic guitar at their best. Listen to it accompanied with a nice dram of Islay or Skye malt.

heyday was his MCA albums - brother loves , moods, rainbow, moved over to CBS and we got the jazzsinger and beautiful noise which arn't a patch on the MCA product... dad was a massive fan and took him to the Arena in 2005 and ticked a line from his bucket list.... dad died in 2009 and we played a ND tune at the funeral - Lonely looking Sky... enjoy.

There was a time when I was beginning to think that he had written every song ever written, it turns out he only wrote half of them.

My personal favourite is I've been this way before, puts a shiver down my spine every time.
