Neil Critchley - blackpool manager.

Just checked his Wiki page and he had an amazing playing career; one substitute appearance for Crewe and three for Leigh RMI!

Seems like Blackpool, Hull and Sunderland the form teams in League One at the moment. And just read that Blackpool have only lost once in the league since January 2nd so they are looking pretty good for the play offs at least.

Good to see them making a comeback, I noticed they gave Peterborough, who sit 2nd in league one, a thumping last night

having a good season, beat Peterborough with a convincing scoreline last night - have games in hand.

one to keep an eye on this manager.
He may well be one to watch but we wont get him not as long as gibson retains his ludicrous policy of not signing managers already in a job.

we will only ever sign out of work managers or novice coaches.

Its madness but it’s gibsons way.

It definitely puts the club at a disadvantage - other than the financial penalty, why is this stance taken?
Didn’t Gibson say it was a moral
Issue as he wouldn’t like to have his manager approached so he doesn’t approach others that’s fine but most clubs are happy to see their manger move on to better things.

it’s lunacy as even Hartlepool appoint managers in a job.

I just don’t get it at all.

its civilised and respectful to the 'other club'.

of course, its worked well for hartlepool since 1908, so perhaps we are missing a trick !

But it’s not civilised ( whatever that means) nor respectful though as why are we happy to poach other clubs players as we do every season but not their managers even though that is how the football world works.

and if you think us somehow being this bastion of decency is going to somehow put off the likes of liverpool or others from trying to poach our top managers then that is just naive.

I just can’t see Gibson logic with this as all this gets you are has beens and never will be’s the likes of woodgate and pullis.

warnock btw is a misnomer to this as he had officially retired at the time we approached him so we were never going to get him in his previous guise using this logic.

OK you have your view i have mine - thats how life works.

heres a footballing scenario for yer.

Gibbo raids his private piggy bank yet again Neil has been given £20M - Britts gone, Ash has gone, bettenelli has gone back, boalasie has gone back, kebano has gone back.

Neil has been told that whatever money he generates from transfers he can have as well - so he cashes in on Tav and collects another £8M - Neil brings in 7 of his players in preparation for next season - a big change in the 1st team squad.

behind the scenes, in whatever capacity changes have been made across the structure of the development stages amongst the youth, Leo has gone and joined Woody at Bournemouth, and the scouting / recruitment system has been overhauled with additional resources and a new focus on targets, undoing 10 seasons previous work - all at Neils behest.

Sheff Utd come in 5 days before kick off next season - and offer Neil, Kev and Ronnie 1 last opportunity to take The Blades, their team back up - they have been offered £12Million quid in wages between them per season, and £70 Million transfer budget in the first season and £50M in the second.

Neil, Kev & Ronnie are under contract to Middlesbrough FC - in your world, so fecking what.

its not Moral , Civilised or Respectful to Middlesbrough FC and its fans - thats my world and i suspect it may be Steve Gibsons as well.

end of comments on this matter for me - but keep Neil Critchley on your radar and lets see where he goes. #UTB Forever

But that is what does happen though and it’s what will happen to us regardless of gibsons crusade.

all it does is undermines and restricts us and under pins a ludicrous boom or bust mantra of never will bes to has beens for our manager.

so we can’t appoint any manager in the country in any other club that takes out 92 possible candidates right off the bat, even though all the other 91 clubs feel the opposite.

it short sighted its naive and its madness

I totally agree with Steve Gibson on this and with what wilf says - just step back and reconsider please do you really not think it right to applaud sticking to principles in this way.

No rob I do not as why are we happy to take other teams players by paying their release fees but not their manager.

im Not talking about poaching but paying up their deals in a fair an open honest way you know what every other team in the country is happy with.
As I want the best candidate to manage my club and this insane crusade all but makes that impossible.
