National Lockdown from Wednesday

You’re right. It’s hopeless. No end inn sight you can’t plan anything or see any kind of future. The loneliness of spring killed me. Can’t face another month of this. And Regardless of which side of the political fence you sit on we are being treating with contempt. **** knows how many people were about to go to bed last night, read about a lockdown and had a sleepless night. It needs a wartime style national government to hold Johnson and his cronies to account and have a balanced approached. Shocking.

Anyway I’m watching Jeff Stelling and trying to forget about this **** show until at least 5pm.

Don't even watch the briefing at 5 mate as it'll all be b***ks that's already been reported on by the news.

Best thing I did during the first lockdown was stop watching the news and the daily briefings.

Agree with that , if you immerse yourself in the news, it can be depressing
 
That’s the death of my career there, 5 years studying gone in a blink of an eye. If it’s anything like 9/11 I’ll be out of work for a decade. At least my ex will be able to claim universal credit for our son now as her business is finished too.

I’m a aircraft engineer, we’ve already lost 800 engineers to VR and CR and even before this announcement they were looking to make another 150 redundant so god knows what it will be now. It’s not even worth applying for anything as half the jobs advertised yesterday won’t be viable in a month and you can’t even go to a interview. The industry took ten years to recover after 9/11 before airlines started hiring. They’ve even made the final year apprentices redundant that were meant to be going into jobs next month. I have savings, I can survive but not sure my relationship will, my partner is 35 and desperate for a kid but I’ll be 40 next year and I won’t have another if I’m not working or have a decent job to pay for the one I have already. She’s public sector and doesn’t really get it, she thinks I will just walk into another job when the entire industry is screwed and I live around Gatwick which will have the highest unemployment in the country. My mate in the same industry got made redundant in March and hasn’t worked since. Seen some predictions that reckon unemployment could still be nearly 7% in 2024!!!

interesting to see how rishi digs us out of this mess. Need a few billion shot at job creation

Work is going to be desperately short over the next year for many. My contract won't have too long to run and i'm nervous to make ends meet after going through a divorce and sorting a financial mess out.

Can guarantee it was moved from 4 till 5 because they forgot people would be watching football.

They've now moved it to half 6 because they forgot people would be watching the rugby.
 
It will be announced as not a lockdown lockdown, but closing of places and a restriction to leaving the house similar to March but not the same.

Definitely NOT what SAGE and Keir Starmer said we should do a month ago, with it being another example of the government doing whatever it takes, acting decisively to whack those pesky moles!

Or something...paff, whiff...
