Nathan Wood Gordon

Following the news of fisher's injury, surely we aren't going to let him go out on loan.

Looked like he's developed physically during the summer and am expecting big things from his this season.

Might not have been a bad thing for him getting roughed up by Smith last season. He will have learned a lot from that game.

yeah, size is not his issue.

he lacks a bit of pace, and a lot of nuance (that is only learned through experience)

Those who don't think he is physically up to it need to stand next to him and then have another think.
He is a big unit.

It's not just about physical size. Fletcher looked a unit but was regularly dominated by Championship defenders.

That said, Wood is still very young for a CB so will only improve.

Having stood on the pool side with both Wood and Fletcher, Wood is a much broader, stronger bloke than Fletcher.

I'm not saying Wood is all about physical size, just that he most certainly has that as an asset.
I personally think he is an excellent, intelligent, skilled footballer with great passing ability.

On my Football Manager 2021 save file the year is 2039 and Woods matched Tim Williamson for overall Boro appearances. 602 league and cup if I remember correctly.

I realise this means nothing but can't help myself for thinking of it whenever I see his name mentioned now. 🤣 In my head he's a seasoned old pro.

How's Kavanagh doing? Was a beast in my game.

I think Fisher's injury is directly linked to Peltier coming in as he's played a fair bit of his career at RB.

Dijksteel/Peltier - RB
Hall/Fry/Wood and one other for the centre back slots? Bamba?

I've been managing Sutton Utd (my local team). So minimal involvement with anything to do with Boro, although I did manage to sign Hayden Hackney who was excellent for me.

Just looked Calum Kavanagh up on my save file. He came on as a sub in 1 cup game for Boro before they sold him to Watford for £10.75m in 2024 on my game. Then they loaned him out to various teams for 4 years. After that 6 seasons at Bristol in the championship and 4 years at Sivasspor in the Turkish Super League.

What were you doing there ?
Fishing one out ? 😭

I think he needs to go on loan for one more time, to a club where he will be regularly played mind. He will not develop quickly enough sitting on our bench or playing the u/23’s. I think he is a really exciting prospect and will be a top CB, hopefully at Boro. I think he will go all the way to the very top personally. We need to watch his contract doesn’t run down too.
