Nashville Primary School shooting

Not sure if this has been posted yet? Apologies if so.

6 people have been killed at a Primary School in Nashville, 3 of them being children (aged 8 or 9), yesterday.

Shooter identified as 28 tear old Audrey Hale.

Gun laws across the ocean ae just ridiculous.

Those families/friends who've just lost their love ones. Can't bear imagining the pain they're going through.

The Nashville Police Department have uploaded footage of the shooter driving to the school, making their way into the building with 2 assaults-type guns and a 9mm pistol.

The scariest part of this, is this probably won't be the last shooting at a primary school in the USA.

It’s mad the second amendment doesn’t say anything about the right to bear arms to shoot innocent people whether they are children or adults.

I see the gun lobby as being the origins of the MAGA fruitcakes that have enabled that traitor Trump to achieve the presidency.

I see no hope for a sensible solution to their problems with guns.

It won't be the last this year.

There'll be armed guards at ALL schools shortly. They view it was the way to tackle guns, is with more guns.

The video is shocking, they're walking around like they're playing laser quest just so calm it's scary, kids taught from an early age how to react to school shooters, scary.

Why would you change the rules if they work for you.

I can't imagine the stress that must linger in the background knowing that these things happen so frequently in schools. My biggest worry about school is whether they're getting a good feed some days.

Hate to say this but the situation has got to the point where we need children of senior NRA figures to be shot. Maybe then they will realise the need to affect change? It's going to have to be extreme, so ingrained in American culture are guns.
Clumsy choice of words there, though I'm sure you're not wishing ill on the kids.

As you say, it's so ingrained in the culture, it wouldn't make a difference anyway. You'll know as well as most, people will just double down to maintain their position. Armed guards would have prevented it, or armed teachers, or armed children.

I don't think SmallTown meant that neither.

But I do think the whole situation in the USA is only going to get worse (which is scary) before it (hopefully) gets better.

If innocent children being shot and killed doesn't create huge changes, then god only knows what will.

No, quite right I'm not wishing ill on the kids. Just hypothesising on what it'll take to start changing things.

Oh and I know he's a Mail "journalist" but Dan Hodges actually had a good point on twitter. Once Sandy Hook happened the die was cast. The response to that was that ischool shootings an acceptable price to pay for the right to bear arms. Anything that's happened afterwards has been tragic, but accepted by Americans so its unlikely anything will change

It's a wonder none of these gun toting lunatics hasn't targeted the NRA in a big way before but they'd just spin it in a way they want. There is no way out of this hole i can see, alot of the guns used in these massacres are bought legally. Trying to get them off the streets would be like our government trying to get people to hand in their teaspoons, too many and people like having them. No reason whatsoever anyone needs an assault rifle whatsoever, none.

This is last year's Christmas card from Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican who represents the district that Covenant School is in in Nashville.

There is absolutely no political will to change the system to protect people from harm from gun violence.

This is just mind-blowing. How is this normal or sane in any way, shape or form?

By all accounts the 129th "mass shooting" in the USA this year. Unsure what defines "mass".

This "Right to Bear Arms" is ingrained in the mentalist element of the American public, but if they bothered to even research further it's "..... against foreign invaders". Can't imagine kids being in this category 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️.

One of the main reasons we moved back from the US to have children was I couldn't imagine dropping her off at school / nursery and her having to do active shooter drills, let alone actual shooters deciding to target her school.

I know the UK isn't perfect, but the fact that we dont cling on to this ridiculous fascination with guns, is certainly a massive plus point.

I think it was a clumsy choice of words but I feel that Smalltown was saying that they might change their outlook on the right to carry arms if they were impacted by gun crime.

At present, they are spending $3 million a year to influence gun policy.

They're also happy to make ammendements to the constitution, it's not like it's set in stone.
