Name a shop that is closed in Teesside that you love to bring back.

Keith’s Barbershop on Lampton Street, Normanby.

Keith (Phillips) wasn’t a bad barber but his craic was brilliant. Sadly passed away long before his time.

So many funny stories to tell about this man. 😜👍
I’m sure Matty Innes had a barber shop on Lampton St for years aswell, a great character.

Speaking of barber shops: there was a, sadly very short lived, barbers and gadget shop in green dragon yard when I was in my twenties. Can’t remember the name but used to think the owner was so cool. Just because he had an Amstrad Dialler

(Frankie) Dee Discount. I feel there's not enough milk coming in squidgy plastic bags these days. They also sold the hard plastic jug things that you were supposed to put the bag in. While you're at it, bring back Gaskins (Plus One) as well.

I used to live on Harford Street so Austin's was literally at the end of the road. Spent a fortune in there.

What was the name of that adult shop on Borough Rd(??). Never went in at the time, too young, always wondered what was on the other side of that door. 🧐Front was all blacked out, as far as I remember.

When I was at the Poly. about 40 (ouch!) years ago, I was friends with a couple of radical feminist lesbians. It was the eighties. Anyway, one of them decided to do a dissertation on pornography, and both decided to go into the Private Shop. They started loudly asking questions of the bloke behind the counter about his exploitation of women &c.. All the punters scattered, and the owner shouted "GET OUT OF MY SHOP!" and started chucking whatever he could lay his hands on, mags, dildos, the lot at them until they left.

Smallons in Nelson St, South Bank. It was original ,sold everything .Haversacks, segs for your shoes ,donkey jackets you name it. All that was missing was Ronnie Barker.
Don't for get Reeds either in South Bank and Eston

I see Leslie Browns and the sweet shop on silver Street in stockton have already been mentioned.....so I'll go for Porkys....falling out The Mall at 2 in the morning and walking round the corner for a full sunday dinner to take away (or large Yorkshire pudding with roasties chicken, gravy and mint sauce in my case), far superior to getting something from the pizza shops.

Stewarts, or is it Stuart's stores at the end of linthorpe rd. Went there for our Ben Sherman's, stay press trousers, Harrington jackets,Levi's and Wranglers. Best shop in town
A mate used to work Saturday's in there, once in the mid '70’s about a dozen West Ham fans burst in looking for sanctuary, one said, “you need a facking machine-gun against that lot…”!!!

The owner 🐓 slapped them!

Two things I took for granted until I left Middlesbrough in the early 90s.
1) Having a choice of proper restaurants to eat in at 2am. Fatsos was my favourite.
2) Evening Gazette / Sports Gazette

Wasn't that part of The Mall?

Porkys! My other half doesn’t believe that such a place could have existed. “Wait, you could get a roast dinner after a night out!?” Well, yeah. Kind of

Wow - wasn't Nelson Steet pulled down in the 1960s.

Reeds was open in the 1970s it was mainly Sports goods, but I remember getting my school tie and blazer badge and blazer (not Eton).
