My take on today

I thought I could see what Carrick was trying to do. At time in midfield we had them all over the place. But the players couldn't finish moves off.

Giles was terrible. Afraid to run forward when playing full back it seems.

Akpom was outstanding.

Hackney was excellent 2nd half.

We need Dijksteel at right back for defending set pieces.

McGree seems 70% of the way to being a good player. Him and Hackney could be good in years to come.

Muniz needs dropping.

Neither Fry or Lenihan can pass but both ok at running out of defence. So tweaks needed.

Jones needs taking out of the team. This may be where another youngster comes in I guess.

We need Coburn back from loan as soon as is possible I think.

Would love to see if Payero can be brought back too.

Muniz was probably looking forward to coming here based off the early Wilder days thinking he’d bag loads. Only to turn up to this 😂

Thought McGree was dreadful today. He was constantly out paced and out muscled. He was incredibly weak.
Also thought Akpom and Fry were excellent. Our support was great but the noise levels went down the longer the game went on….lots of moans about Giles going backwards and McGree. Preston were awful but still beat us!

Boro are pretty much like death eaters off Harry Potter for strikers.

It's like we suck all the joy and verve from them and leave them as dessicated husks of humanity.

I honestly believe if City gave us Haaland for a few weeks he would be shambling about upfront with the weight of the world on his shoulders in no time, scoring 1 scuffed penalty in 5 games.

When Muniz arrived he was a bundle of energy, bouncing around, great touch, looked the best striker we have had since Bamford and I was even comparing his touch to Viduka.

What on earth do we do to them?

Giles looked scared stiff going forward. He has no partner thought to help him as McGree was outpaced throughout the game.

Agree a definite improvement in midfield play today. hackney looks an excellent player he rarely passes astray and is alway looking forward and plays at a good tempo. Result was bad but I am not disheartened by the overall performance

McGree is a waste of space

Nothing I disagree with there but being around the relegation zone in the championship needs proper men and leaders on the pitch and we haven’t had a proper leader since leadbitter moved on….we are going to pay the ultimate price because the championship is not an easy league by in stretch and bring kids in is really naive in my opinion

Funny old game football, isn’t it.

Fry.

For starters that F***ing stupid long punt up into the channel that never ever ever comes to anything. Sick of seeing him do it.

Slow on the ball, there were a few times we played from the back and their player pressing managed to get on top of him and get a foot to his clearance/pass. Luckily it didn’t fall for them.

Than the goals. He’s your biggest, supposedly strongest defender. Should be dominating the box. Both goals were punts into the box. Soft as *****, isn’t commanding at all.

I seen today just how weak we are mentally and physically.. we get dominated to easily and are susceptible when teams put it on us at any time during a game.
We are rotten and we need some fight instilling into us.
Shocking how much of a bunch of weak individuals we have.
We should never have lost a game like that to a team who are so poor at home.

This team holds none of the values of the town it represents…. No fight ..no strength no guts .. nothing.. it’s embarrassing.

We are very weak and we also seem reluctant to grasp the fact that we play the game at a pace that makes the game too easy for the opposition.
When we had our best spell under Wilder we were up and at 'em and playing at a pace that created space to exploit. Those little triangles between Crooks and Jones were all based on moving the ball quickly and not letting the opponent settle.
Unless the players grasp that then we'll look slow and ponderous and easy to play against. Add in that we get out fought at set pieces then we'll always be vulnerable.
We need to cotton on and start to impose ourselves on games physically.
