MY TAKE ON IT

Give it a rest Nobby. The lad has explained his personal circumstances and why he can't follow the path you think would be so simple for him to take.
Everyone has choices in life, he's made his so it's no point moaning about it....that's life. I'm sure he has a nice lifestyle and lives in a nice place, that's the trade-off. I choose to live in Middlesbrough and work in a job that doesn't pay great and work on the front line...I don't try and blame other people or government for what I've chosen...so nah you give it rest Borofur I'm sick of champagne socialists telling people how they should vote or that they are thick !

Yet his appeal was greater in 2019 than Blair, Brown and Milliband in the three preceding elections to 2017.
I liked Corbyn but we have to look to the future now.

Corbyn did just set out to attract votes everywhere, he got out and about in the country and addressed people, all people, everywhere.

He didn’t particularly waste his energy on ‘red wall’ disaffected older voters who were/are wrongly saying Labour has done nothing for them.

I never voted Labour till 2017. It was the manifesto that won me over.

I do worry that Labour goes back to the Milliband gravestone politics with capping energy prices for 5 years as the cornerstone policy.

Don't infer that I've done any of the things you're sick of Nobby.

The lad has explained his circumstances very clearly and eloquently without 'moaning'.

I simply asked you to stop preaching to him how simple it would be to change his career, relationship and life choices.

champagne socialist

noun

DEROGATORY•BRITISH

a person who espouses socialist ideals while enjoying a wealthy and luxurious lifestyle.

I very much doubt there are any champagne socialists posting on this board.

So after all that you can't explain how I can change my situation for the better?

I was explaining my situation and how it differs from the stereotypical.imptession of London based Labour supporters and you fell back on 'champagne socialists'.

Unbelievable lack of empathy. Hope you enjoy the match, maybe someone's leg will get broken and you can have a laugh about it.

Are Boris' Tories just Labour Lite?

They seem to be spending like there is no tomorrow. Furlough, or sit on your bum and get paid, seems like a new labour type policy. Moving the treasury was a new labour idea that they didnt achieve, as was, i believe, freeports. Regional investment rather than cuts seems very Labour. Next up, tax rises to pay for it all. Doesnt seem very Tory - sleaze does tho, so they've got that.

Oh Boo Hoo, must be awful...I hope things improve for you !

This is interesting reading for anybody who can be bothered:

Class V Identity politics

"Labour’s 2019 election defeat was not simply a one-off result caused by Brexit. It was the result of decades of abandonment of working-class people and class politics, and the party’s lamentable turn to neoliberal identity politics."

You're the one moaning about how you don't get paid enough and have to live in Middlesbrough. That's your choice.

I'm just outlining the structural inequalities of modern British society.
Ok LPB yeah I chose to move back North for a better quality if life, that's what I'm saying.
I didn't start out aiming for an argument 👍

Fair enough pal but you were moaning about your lot. Students loans, big mortgage, working well into your 60's as if you don't have any choice in the matter. I'm just trying to point out that you do, you're choosing to live that life...I'm not try to be clever btw 👍
Nobby your assertion that there's a glut of good jobs in the area are wholly false mate. I wish it were true.

Edit* I realise that I've quoted the wrong post of yours. It was the previous one.

Just as an example a year ago my brother was told to go and help somebody on site who he was not qualified to help. He mentioned he hadn't received the required training but was told to stop being a fanny.

In the process he broke his collarbone and was unable to work. They told him he wouldn't be getting his regular pay and that he could instead sign on for his 80 odd quid statutory sick pay which I beleive would also be delayed by a couple of weeks.

Sounded totally illegal to me at the time but he said that was the culture and they'd just get rid of him if he made a fuss.

If you lose your job or could be a very long time before you start earning again.

I appreciate that happens elsewhere by the way but its most pertinent in places like Teesside

I'm not saying there are a glut of jobs, but there are jobs available and more so in York, Newcastle etc. depending on your skills...Sorry to hear about your brother that's not right...I agree workers rights have been eroded and that's one thing I don't like !
I'm just saying everyone has choices in life, live in a smaller house and take a less pressurised job for example.Move to the North East and have a smaller mortgage etc etc. You can't just blame everything on the flaming Tories....
