I am not sure which is worse.

Worrying about whether Almería will qualify for the play-offs or get direct promotion.

Or worrying about Boro being relegated

I had 30+ minutes of squeeky bum time last night.

Almería scored 3 goals in the first half. Then had a 4th goal disallowed correctly by VAR early in the second half.

We then conceded 2 goals by around 60 minutes. After that we managed to scrape home for a 3-2 victory. With lots of scares.

I am not sure I have got any fingernails left for the match tonight.

It feels like that.

All teams now have 2 matches left. All to be played at 21:00 on Friday night (17 July) and 21:00 on Monday night (20 July).

Almería are in 3rd place. 6 points behind the leaders Cadiz and 1 point behind second place Huesca. No other teams can catch Cadiz.

Almería has by far the best goal difference of the 3 teams.

The Spanish leagues have a different way of deciding ties on points. Goal difference is not the first tie-breaker.

The first tie breaker is how many points you gained against the other teams that you are tied with. In this case Cadiz took 4 points and we got 1 point against them. So their promotion is guaranteed.

If we were to win both of our last matches and they were to lose both of theirs we would both have 69 points. If Huesca win both of theirs they would have 70 points.

In this case Huesca and Cadiz would be promoted. With Almería in third place and in the play-offs. Goal difference only counts if you cannot separate teams by comparing how they played against each other during the season.

Brit and Fletcher 2 goals each. 3 points and safety

My football worries is that I'm becoming more & more detached from the game.

Yes I'll watch the Boro tonight but in times gone by if we got beat I'd be in a stinker of a mood, now it's a shrug of the shoulders and forgotten about.

In fact since we didn't have any football for 3 months I've realised that actually what I missed about going to the match was the pints with mates.

Anyway, good luck to Almeria ............. and obviously UTB
 
I realised in lockdown that I missed watching my son play on a Sunday morning more than anything else. If I'd still been a regular at Riverside I dare say I'd have missed the Boro more.
