My first Brexit thread

Yes my Butler is also asking for more money. And the chauffeur has jacked up his rate. And as for my tooth paste squeezer - well she will just have to go. Or maybe reallocated other squeezing duties.

You have really showed yourself up there smallTown but your thinking is out there for all to see. Not that I am surprised

You nailed it Konrad

I
However I am now officially poorer because of brexit. The lady who supplies my cleaners has jacked up the prices due to having a a large amount of staff from the EU and having to fill roles of people going back and cover the losses she'll face in the future.

Forgive the observation, but if your cleaners are now going to be paid more, then although you're poorer, it sounds like they'll be better off. They'll be officially richer because of Brexit.

I think that logic will be totally lost on the me me me smallTown

are cleaners from the eu better at cleaning ,cant they go and get someone whos not from the eu (cleaners)? or does she get them as they maybe cheaper?

I'm with the cleaners. Fair pay and a bit of respect like in the old days when workplaces and hospitals were cleaned properly because someone cared.

Ah you're all missing the point that yes it may be cleaners at the moment. But soon other businesses which rely heavily on European workers such as farming as I have mentioned will be hit. I can see the brexiteers moaning when the price of their food goes up. I bet the fail to make the link with brexit.

They do get paid fairly. Doing minimum wage jobs.

Do you think the current society of dole scroungers will suddenly say "oh a really should go and pick fruit not Tomasz has left'. The fact is there WAS a workforce to do these jobs and soon there won't be.

Ah forget it, you brexiteers can argue all you want. We know you do. Everyone also knows that the price of food will go up and I guarantee brexiteers will be the first to moan about that as it makes us all poorer. More importantly it makes THEM poorer as I imagine brexiteers are selfish .

Oh, yet another thread about Brexit, just what we needed on our new Middlesbrough FOOTBALL Club website, especially as the referendum was almost three months ago and we quit the EU 6 weeks ago so it’s no longer in any question.

I hope this “ignore” button really works.

It is in question, we are still negotiating a deal and things are still changing. If you're happy to bury your head in the sand and let our country get poorer then fair play to you. I can't be so accepting.

The country isn’t getting poorer. People on lowest paid jobs will be getting a higher pay. As I stated you are all for payer higher taxes for a fairer society but when it comes to the crunch you want your cake and eat it. Don’t want to pay extra to help the lowest paid if it affects you.

We'll see. It is and this is the thin end of the wedge. You'll see it eventually. I know brexiteers are in bit of denial at the moment but the more sensible ones will be noticing how bad things are going to be.

Always interesting having a scan of these kinds of posts. Some points
“ The economic argument is just that, ‘an argument’. Always will be. Many will be hot and bothered about it but I’m not sure what purpose it serves either way. Either side can say ‘I told you so’. Not a great way to behave IMO
* There was a counter intuitive report concluding some voters just don’t care about the ‘economics’ of Brexit and, are happy to live with being worse off if it comes to pass. For them - change for a variety of non economic reasons was important
* 4m kids in poverty, rising use of foodbanks, massive homeless problem yet apparently ‘The country isn’t getting poorer’.
We ought to remind those in need of that. It will cheer them up.
* People on lower pay jobs will get higher pay - I’m just wondering where that money is going to come from. Shareholders will still want a return.

You've obviously fallen for Cameron/Osbourne "project fear" even though for nearly 4 years it simply hasn't happened. Guess in your case the coronovirus recession will be sufficient for you to remain aligned with the Tories of the past.

It is happening as I pointed out in the OP. I guess you're in denial too.

Also I have been accused of being a socialised AND a Tory today. Interesting
