What a list.

Murray Walker and his oh so familiar voice on cold afternoons on Saturdays watching rallycross or Formula Ford racing. Tear to my eye thinking about those happy days. RIP Murray.

Passed away aged 97.
The voice of F1.
RIP
Oh that’s awful news

I’ve it’s got in, and just seen this that’s awful news. I read his books and what a life he lead. truly the voice of F1.

I saw the great man once at the British GP. He was sat on the back of a bbc truck and it slowly drive past us.

wow that’s really shocked me

reunited with James hunt in the commentary box in the sky.

RIP MURRAY AND THANKS.

“That's history. I say history because it happened in the past.”

I have no interest whatsoever in formula 1. That said he's an absolute voice of a generation.

He's just one of those voices you heard and said 'Murray walker'

RIP

Also Sid Waddell, another great who was capable of multiple gaffes in a single commentary.

RIP Murray, a commentating great. Even if motorsport wasn’t your thing I’m sure lots of people watched it just to listen to Murray’s infectious enthusiasm.......and the top drawer clangers.

I remember him commentating on that touring car race at Silverstone in 1993; at the time Toyota had a slogan “The Car in Front is a Toyota”. As luck would have it a Toyota got rolled in the race and Murray screamed “THE CAR UPSIDE DOWN IS A TOYOTA!”

I saw him with his missus in Villefranche sur Mer near Monaco just after the Monaco Grand Prix some ten years ago.

The first five places are filled with five different cars

do my eyes deceive me or does Sennas car sound rough?

there’s nothing wrong with that car, except that it’s on fire.

I loved a Murrayism. Really sad news. Such a great voice for motorsports

I also met him when I was 20 years old at an event and I was instantly starstruck. Had time for everybody who wanted to speak to him that afternoon.

Growing up as a kid the family were and still are massive motorsports fans. His voice is instantly recognisable, to the point you can hear it in your head.

For me this is Murray's greatest piece of commentary, I know lots will pick Formula 1 quotes but the passion here is unrivaled.

Rest in Peace Murray.
Everything about this is brilliant. This is pretty much why I love motorsports

Proper motor racing back then too with the touring cars. I was always fascinated by seeing the cars you see everyday actually racing around tracks, full pelt, leaving it all out there.
