MSS Magazines

No - they stopped many years ago now. Andy Smith the editor moved up north. Excellent magazine - really well designed and great interviews and features. I have most of them I think. A quick look, maybe 2004 was the last - Juno lifting the cup.

Thanks Rob 👍

They did indeed stop in 2004. George at Boro programmes had quite a few in stock always. Andy moved to the Lake District I think. The Magazine won best supporters club mag in APFSCIL every season.

Erimus74, I'm Shaun Keogh. That's a fine collection you have.

It wasn't a garden shed fire, Zoophonic; that somewhat trivialises the event.

The building was 12x6m, about 200 years old and timber framed. It was completely lost along with everything inside. It housed a working business as well as a huge amount of irreplaceable items such as generations of family photographs and items that belonged to my father that were hugely sentimental. The MSS magazines that were lost in this fire were not an 'official' archive, they just happened to be my collection of magazines, including MSS that I had contributed to. The fire was a devastating event in my life, to which anybody who has ever suffered such a calamity would understand me being a bit touchy about, even 20 years on as we are. But there is no way you could have known that - only people involved with MSS at that time would have known this was no 'garden shed' fire and how devastating it was for me.

"Picto_Leng, thank you for that, sorry to hear about, I would have been devestated too, losing sentimental items can be devastating

Could you still get any issues, I would be interested in the 1st & last issue

Erimus, I never had a copy of the first issue as i was not involved with MSS until issue 108. As I understand it, the early issues were photocopied bits of A4 stapled together, so a bit like Sniffing Glue, if you, like me are old enough to remember that.

I have a copy of the final issue - I am happy to scan or photocopy it and sent to you, but I appreciate that that is probably not ideal. I have a spare copy of MSS 127 which has a photo (taken by me!) of Ravanelli on the front and an interview with the White Feather inside. I see this issue is not included in your collection shown. Happy to send that to you also, gratis.

Ah yes, my mistake Erimus, MSS 129 is the one I meant.

I did an interview with Graeme Souness for Riverside Roar, but I never managed to obtain another copy having lost the one I had in the fire. Someone who had a copy typed the interview and sent it to me so I could put it on the website, but not having seen a copy of it for 20 years, I have no idea which of those in your file it would be. If you have a copy of that one spare to swap for MSS 129?

Thanks for that, I have issues either side of that one, I'm sure I have that issue, I'll have to recheck 👍

Thank you Erimus, that is very kind of you; I really appreciate this. As I said, I do have a spare of the Ravanelli MSS, so if you would like that (also in mint condition) send me your address too.
