Has he done anything at all since he's been here? His lack of mobility is there for all to see. I don't like to single players out as he's one of a large number of players who are not performing but if he can get in that midfield week in week out then it just shows how weak we are in that area. Surely there is a youngster in the academy (hackney etc) who would offer more than this lad?

He’s dreadful. Then again everyone of our midfield have been dreadful. Crooks looks a shadow of what he was.
Crooks looked a lot better once Jones came one but was utter shyte in the first half. Ryan Giles not shooting from point blank range and trying to square it to Crooks will haunt me in my sleep tonight

Had to laugh at the Akpom rating in the gazette because at this point I’m pretty sure they just copy and paste it.

Akpom - 5 - Couldn’t get into the game.

There must be a better player in the youths?

It’d be hard to find a less effective one.

A lazy pathetic signing on the clubs part. They knew that fans were angry due to the sale of Tav, so rushed to bring in a quick replacement, hoping to pacify the fanbase.

We needed to sign an energetic box-to-box midfielder. I genuinely feel the club's rationale for signing Mowatt was that he'd been a good player at this level in the past so might do alright - no thought given as to how he'd adapt to our way of playing.

He's really not a bad player.

But put him in THAT midfield, slowest, clumsiest most ponderous in the Championship - going to make any player look shyte.
He's a major part of that midfield though. You've highlighted 2 of his main weaknesses there, slow and ponderous.

Mowatt has been underwhelming , and gone from the captain and leader at Barnsley , to a player lacking confidence.
I still think he will come good, I would play him DM for a few games , running the show . He can do it , that's what he did for Barnsley.

Adding him to an already painfully slow midfield - Crooks and Howson - was not a good move. Maybe throughout his career he has had players doing all the running for him, not sure.
He's not a bad player .......but he's really bad in that system and especially that midfield unit

I think he's been asked to play a role he has limited attributes for

He was signed, just like clarke was purely on the basis he happens to be left footed - to add 'balance'

He's best suited to be a deep lying player passing it around and occasionally joining attacks to shoot from the edge of the box

ot as a number 8 in a 3-5-2 being asked to be a box to box midfielder, he's far too immobile and lacking in athleticism for that

Sick of us ending up with lazy players with poor attitude.
Bet he's on at least £30k per week.
Shame he seems to have decided he doesn't need to try anymore

I think it’s clear we struggle to attract players. He wasn’t wanted at WBA and wasn’t our first choice. It’s been a problem for many years. We don’t have the money to chuck at players anymore and that’s the biggest attraction to pretty much most players. The FA and rich owner or consortium run clubs like most other institutions is obsessed with money and greed. Thinking money is the answer to get what you want. It’s spoilt the good old days when everyone could compete. Now it’s sick with cash
