Mourinho to be next Roma manager.

Well he “attacked” a Roma based journalist so not a great start.
I imagine if he gets them back into the top 2-3 he will be viewed as a partial success although obviously some fans will say his football isn't good and that he's 'sucked the life out of the club' like they do wherever he goes now. Only the title can stop that, but I don't think its impossible.

I’m not talking about the fans though I’m talking about the formidable Italian football press as there’s three newspapers focussing on football every day...not gossip ..,not Instagram but football.

and they can be savage esp now that there favourite target is back.

it will be interesting.

the Italian press are already running the story of how mourninho dismissed conte as a little man...

You can see why Roma have gone for Mourinho and likewise him going there. It's hard to see him lasting long but I suppose Roma will be hoping for two good seasons, perhaps a cup win and Champions League football.

Mourinho as a coach was a superstar and some of his team's as good as Man City now (just in a different way). He seems to have lost something and with all respect to a wonderful club like Roma is starting to not be considered by the really top sides. He'll never manage in England again, same for Spain and there's no chance Bayern Munich or Borussia Dortmund would go for him.

2, Real Madrid in 2011/12 and Chelsea in 2014/15.

He's won the league, two League Cups and a European title in the last 6 years.
It's not outstanding, but I don't think that's too bad.

He got Tottenham to a League Cup final and was bizarrely denied the opportunity to contest it.

Solskjær is being lauded this season for being 2nd in the table and reaching a European final, yet he's almost certain to get fewer points than Mourinho did at Man United, and even if he does win the Europa League, he hasn't won a double either.

He's definitely declined and became more miserable, but I don't think he's finished.
I don't think he's finished as a manager, however I do think he's finished as a manager when it comes to the elite clubs.

His football has always been dreadful, however he always backed it up with results and trophies. But recently, his football is dreadful and he rarely competes for the big trophies. He took Spurs backwards and spent more (net) than Poch in a fraction of the time.

I think the Spurs job for Jose will be his last in England from one of the 'big' clubs.

Not at all. His Chelsea team first time around was outstanding. His Porto team brilliant too. They won the old UEFA Cup then Champions League with great style and some great players.

Once Mourinho got to Inter he went ultra pragmatic in the face of Guardiola and the best club side in history. That seemed to set him on the pragmatism approach since. Although his Real Madrid team beat Barcelona and scored over 100 goals I think in La Liga alone.

I think in his later Chelsea days the team were pragmatic. Once Robben fell out of favour they rarely quickened the pulse.

That Real Madrid team were decent - overshadowed in the aesthetic stakes by Guardiola's Barcelona - but they were a decent watch. Ronaldo was at his very very best then. Hard to be boring with him flying up and down.

Yes I agree with this. The general footballing perception of his “boring” style didn’t really take shape until he’s left Inter, but he did achieve great things at Inter that couldn’t be denied.

Once he came back to England the general mood towards him had changed and in truth despite winning the title again once, he has never rediscovered his mojo. It is harder for managers who move around a lot though I think, although that’s of his own making.

I do think Dortmund could potentially take him. But I imagine his next job after this will be at somewhere like Sevilla or even Atleti if Simeone ever moves on.
