Most intimidating away games.

In recent years I think some of the west midlands grounds are pretty bad. I'm thinking wolves in particular.

Was at Wolves on the opening day of the season and the managerial debut of Garry Monk. We were awful that day and walking back to the train station there was quite a lot of needle and a few fights kicking off.

I was quite surprised to be honest as I didn't think there'd be much bother with them.

Newcastle in 1978, boro won 4-2, got kept back after the game for a while, As we got outside there wasn’t a soul about and a Bobbie with a loud speaker said whatever happens don’t run just walk ( run from what) we thought, as we turned the corner there was what seemed like thousands of geordies on both sides of the road waiting, that was pretty scary.

Yeah I was at game weegord and the 3-2 win in the promotion season. On the way back to the station we saw a wolves punching a tree in an act of aggression towards some Boro fans haha. Very strange behaviour.

I was never too keen to go to Roker Park, especially when the Mackems had Harry Hooper marauding down the wing, but I have a feeling that the Brentford attack may be a bit "intimidating " next week. 😮

Chelsea play offs - went with Cleveland Transit on the sides of the bus - going down kings roads pubs emptied with chairs glases chucked at the bus. stuck in traffic as well....

Leeds in the 70's,

I went to Man City good Friday 1975 on a Beggs coach, which parked right outside the Kippax, IIRC, we then paid in to the ground, unbelievablely a small wall seperated both sets of fans, as time ticked by towards kick off the Kippax started to fill up with their fans edging closer to the wall & looking any miniute to 'step' over the wall & charge to us, about quarter to 3 with both fans goading each other City charged, it was a fast run to the turn style's, I was 14 at the time & a bit worried, someone threw me over the turstyle, funny enough Boro fans were still paying in
Once outside a few of us ended up paying in the seats behind the goal, 50p I think, we took the lead but lost 2-1, scarf under my jacket I made my way back to our coach as trouble was going on after the game
A few smashed windows on the way home it for a chilly journey
St James Park the year after Big Jack got us up. The scaffolders who were to segregate the Galloway end went on strike. It was non stop free for all, hardly watched the game

Another vote for Maine Road. Ironically the most recent trouble (through no fault of my own) was after we beat City in the FA Cup.
For sheer brutality I remember a game at Darlo playing, I think, Barnsley back in the late sixties or thereabouts.

The closest I got to a kicking was spurs, weren’t in the Prince of Wales pub and it was full of old timers chanting yid army as I walked in with my borough top poorly hidden.... all good fun until we went through the back and got cornered by quite a few younger lads who said we was on their turf... weblegged it through a side door expecting it to open up into a back yard but it was the main road luckily...

About 92 I think...

Stamford bridge for one off drama for sure.
I'd echo Maine Road for frequent unpleasantness and had some chew at Everton and Liverpool a few times too.

Mine has to be Roma away, it is something else when there are armed police in your end and escorting you to and from the ground.

And when we scored and the ultras ran at our fans, after a while the police decided it was a good idea to stop them using batons. At which point they just returned to their seats to watch the rest of the game.
