Most and least reliable car brands revealed

Appears the scores are heavily influenced by the cost to repair, it’s not just how likely are you to have a problem. It stands to reason that a new clutch on Porsche 911 would cost more than one for a Ford Fiesta!

Not sure where the info comes from.
I've driven Skoda's for the last 10-15 years, Superb and Ovtavia, great reliability and never once had a repair bill anywhere near the quoted £600 average.
Realise I'm one example but the numbers quoted seem very high.

Turns out the premium badge cars are largely tin cans

Good luck with dropping 70k on a Range Rover only for it break down not long after. Why don't these premium badgers just stick to teeth whitening and protein shakes. Would save them some cash and possibly fund a self-esteem course

Sounds like someones jealous of people who can afford premium brands! It's always a skewed thing because premium cars simply have more things on them to go wrong. Due to their higher quality they are also my expensive to repair. I miss, badly, the build quality of my Merc, but I sacrificed it for the poorly built but spectacularly performing Tesla.

Most reliable cars ive ever owned...Honda Civic, Hyundai Coupe, Mistubishi FTO.
Most unreliable cars ever owned....Audi A4 Avant, VW Golf GTTDI,

The least reliable cars I've ever owned have been Fords and Toyotas (Yes, Toyota)
Most reliable by some way have been my Mercs

I’d been a Saab man for most of my adult life after briefly dabbling in older BMWs when I first started driving.

For me, they were a great mix of a bit of quality, a bit of performance and a lot of quirk.

Obviously they aren’t made anymore so have subsequently moved to a Merc, which I have to say (touching wood) has been an excellent choice.

Very surprising reading. I've always bought from the VW group in it's various guises Golf's / Leon's and never had any issues. They never break down and seem to fly through MOTs (although usually not much older than 5yrs).

I always thought German was best. Its clear Japanese cars now rule the road in terms of reliability.

The only make I've never buy again are Citroën. I have only ever had 1 brand new car and bought a Shitroen. I had it in the garage 3 times in first year. All under warranty but never again.

I am currently on my first Ford (fiesta). 7 months in and no snags👍

I think its pretty much a giver that if you 'buy' a 70k range rover it will lose 30-40k over 3-4 years. That said most school run mums who feel the urge to have one for one child have them on PCP. They never own them but just wonna look good (I imagine 90% wouldn't know how to put it in to 4 wheel drive or what a Diff lock is😂).

Side story... My next door but 2 has a white flashy range rover (PCP worth about 50k). It was snowing last year and I saw her struggling with 4 shopping bags. I was stunned when she said she had walked over a mile because she was scared driving her expensive vehicle in the snow.....fecking Doyle🙄

Also, just to point out, would anyone buy a Range rover expecting it to work? Have Range Rover, whether owned by the Brits or the Indians, EVER made a reliable car?

Top Gear Bolivia special: Clarkson buys a Range Rover.
James May "I had one of those"
Richard Hammond: "yeah, me too. did yours ever, whats the word?......work?"

The reliability score isn't heavily influenced by the cost of repair. Lexus has one of the highest average repair costs but is rated as the joint most reliable vehicle - by quite a margin along with Honda.

But of course premium badge cars have more parts that can go wrong  They go wrong because they are poor quality and badly engineered. The excess cost of these vehicles is all in the brand rather than the quality of the vehicle itself. Well, maybe Lexus has some claims to superior quality but Toyota are not that far behind in comparison.

Lexus are Toyota.

You're just wrong on the quality aspect. I've had cheap cars and premium cars and you can definitely tell the difference between how they are built, the materials that they are made out of.

I’ve got two Toyotas with over 350 k done between them and other than discs and pads I’ve never had a minute of bother. Worst car I ever had was a Passat .

Ahhhh, the list is rubbish because of someone’s personal experience.
Plus ca change

And to accuse someone of being jealous of those who can afford premium cars.
Really - pretty rubbish thing to say about someone you don’t know.

That's how it comes across. due to the extra comments he decided to add. Sounds very much like someone who want's a premium car but can't have one.
