Morning all

Well we all have different opinions on the structure of the club, players etc but we all have one thing in common this wet & cold Sunday morning

That we're all feeling a little low this morning after another disappointing display against another team in the bottom 3 we failed to get anything from

Morning Erimus. 1 point from 9 against the 3 relegation zone teams is nothing short of disgraceful. There's a perfect storm brewing here with the only logical conclusion being that we will be relegated to League 1 if nothing is done and this form continues. What needs to happen when you have:-

A Chairman who appears to have lost interest.
An anonymous Chief Executive.
A clearly inept Manager.
Players not up for the fight.

The one shining light is our fans who continue to spend their hard earned cash travelling aground the country watching utter dross.

And you have to question their sanity, this team isn't worth following to the bottom of the garden

Morning Erimus74, but sadly not a good one, another Sunday, another miserable weekend watching the Boro. Mr Gibson will be reaping what he himself has sown if the status quo continues. A few of us recognised the alarm bells before a ball was kicked this season. The Gazette has finally put it in print. We are sleepwalking to relegation, which in my opinion will see a huge drop off in take up of his early bird ST funding and more financial problems. I don’t see a class of 86 awaiting to be unleashed if the worst happens and I fear the worst now. Yesterday saw many supporters wake up and smell the coffee. As much as i admire the loyalty and hope fans have every August, it is no substitute for reality.

Change is urgently needed to arrest this slump and the faux positivity from the club, its staff and players can be seen for what it really is now, cheap words. We were second best all over, barely won a second ball, devoid of idea, spirit and fight. Two games against the bottom three and in around 190 minutes of football have failed to register a single solitary effort on target. That is the most telling stat of all.

Leeds and Forest up next and unless we see a change of approach with every player giving their all for one another we could well be in the bottom 3 come next weekend. The club seems like a rudderless broken down ship in an ocean of fog and I for one am saddened to see how our plight is mostly self inflicted. The 7th of May 2016 was less than four years ago and yet here we stand staring into the abyss of a possible return to league 1. I can only pray that Mr Gibson is alive to the risks and formulates a plan. Right now I would happily accept finishing 21st. Now where did I put my Diazepam.

A cracking post from the heart coluka, you have seen at 1st hand, travelling long distance to both home & away games, the decline in the club
Sadly too

Sad days indeed Erimus.
Woodgate isn't the right man and never was,he's to inexperienced, he's not articulate enough to get his views across and seems totally devoid of tactical awareness and has no ability to motivate his player's.
Talk on oneBoro of MacClaren coming back to give a helping hand?
If things don't change we will be relegated I just don't see where the next point never mind points are coming from.
What a mess, rudderless ship from top to bottom

Cheers mate. It is from the heart, a heavy one at that. I just feel numb right now. It less than 2 months ago i was watching us play positive attacking football at Preston yet 53 days later have witnessed games of drab, turgid, gutless ineptitude from players and coaches alike. The positive words from the players and staff are at odds with the reality we see on the pitch. If there really was a genuine togetherness within the club, then surely this would be visible pitchside too? For what its worth I think too many people are far too comfy in their Boro slippers down Rockliffe way. On the old board I referred to the emperors new clothes fable, well, In the words of Oscar Wilde “Life imitates art far more than art imitates life”

Good morning indeed ! Cheer up everyone, we’ve had worse times ! Go out get some fresh air and enjoy your Sunday I say 👍🏻 I’m already looking forward to the Leeds game and an unexpected Boro win :) OK it’s unlikely but this is Boro and you never know what to expect with us do you. UTB !!

Dark days indeed and there doesn't seem an obvious quick fix to get the points we are going to need now the teams at the bottom are picking up points, given it is unlikely we'll change the management set up.

The players we have should be capable of at least being mid table, but there is no settled team pattern and no creativity. Woodgate and the players seems confused of late and caught out by our poor run as if they expected to just turn up and get three points v Luton, Wigan and Barnsley.
Did complacency creep in following our festive upturn?

I am confused as to why the younger players are being sacrificed when they are the ones who provided a spark , why we are persevering with players who won't be here long term and why we have players on loan who haven't improved the sqaud.

Perhaps if we can get back to what was working and provide a plan for the future things can be better?

It is ironic our best run in December was with a team that picked itself due to injuries.... the lutons, barnsleys looked more hungry and wanted a win more

“I am confused as to why the younger players are being sacrificed when they are the ones who provided a spark , why we are persevering with players who won't be here long term and why we have players on loan who haven't improved the sqaud.”

I honestly think that when the likes of Spence and Coulson were first introduced they did provide that spark you refer to, they were young, pacy and played without fear and inhibition. As their inclusion has gone on, I think they have been far too heavily ‘coached’, to the degree that it has affected their raw passion and natural playing style, Spence in particular. Could it be that our players are over coached to the degree it affects their decision making in games. Instinct and natural style being coached out of them for a preferred style of the coaching team. Football is about putting together 11 individuals with personal styles, abilities and skills to deliver results in a bigger team picture. I worry that we buy players who are good at performing In a certain way and style and then attempt to change the way they like or have successfully played, to then expecting them to change to a different style or way of playing and thinking that they will just adapt and be equally as successful as before.

On a seperate note, I also think Howson in particular looks incredibly jaded and needs a short break from his earlier heroics as wing back and centre back. He has looked very tired, a shadow of himself these past couple of games imho

I have never been convinced about Howson as a wing back/full back, but think he looks better in the middle where he can read and dictate the game. Similarly McNair looks better in the middle. I agree that we are asking players to do things they aren't capable of rather than playing to their strengths. Perhaps Woodgate got carried away after beating West Brom away!

I haven't criticised Woodgate because I've always thought we would use this season as a time to take stock and finish in mid table ready for next season, but now I believe we will be relegated if we don't take some emergency measure such as was done in the time of Robbo and Venables.

JW now seems to have lost the ability to inspire the players and no amount of team shuffling is having any effect.
Assombalonga is just turning up. This bringing of Gestede on each game makes no difference - he does nothing and we still lose. The young lads have been affected with the same malaise as the older players.

Losing the best centre back in this league has been a problem of course and playing people out of position very rarely works, but if Mr Gibson doesn't act quickly we will be in the third tier next season and I do not see a John Hickton or a John O'Rourke to bring us back.

It is that inspiration that was so missing yesterday. At Brentford just two weeks ago I saw a slightly different Boro. One with a bit of energy and focus. Yes we lost but against a very good side and just and with a couple of defensive mistakes. But yesterday and at home to Luton was just dismal. Nothing that gives me hope we can pick ourselves up. So in that respect for the first time I’m with Lottowyn here and hope for a change at the helm. We need it.
