More deaths in the Channel, who's to blame now!

The biggest issue is we are a soft touch I don't agree with freedom of movement any country in the world should really only want people who benefit the country. Now I know I can say this because technically we live in a developed country and others don't. Brexit really caused more problems because the government didn't push it to the extreme and still haven't meaning the EU think we are generally just wanting our cake and eat it.
Prisoners by birth.

I'm sorry but I think that's a backwards way of looking at the world. Mediaeval thinking.

No, it's possible to do both simultaneously.
The Germans took in quite a few migrants due to their aged population, BMW/Audi were actively recruiting down in Southern Spain pre-covid probably around 7-10 years ago, due to the lower wage levels in Southern Europe. The Germans were probably also recruiting in Portugal, given how many of them are up here working in the Netherlands.
Iran, Pakistan & Turkey are majority Muslim Countries, so they should be taking in their Muslim brothers & sisters fleeing from persecution in places like Syria.
I'm not sure why the likes of the UAE which has around 9 million indians living/working there doesn't deport a couple of million back to India. Can understand them wanting to keep the Doctors Nurses & Engineers, but they could easily fill any hospitality position with a fellow arabic speaking person?
Haven't got a clue how many Columbia has taken & where they've originated from?

The French by all accounts. They are doing little to stop these gangs operating
Why should the French do anything? Since Brexit they have had no duty of care towards the UK, and now are free to let the migrants leave the EU at the earliest possible point.

Don't they have a duty of care towards the migrants or aren't they important?

You must be the only one to think this because this government and that last didn't have a clue
He isn't, and the last govenrment didn't want to "fix" immigration and, not to belabour the point, it's not as big a problem as you think it is. I understand why you would make this incorrect assumption. The media and the Farage's want you to believe this

I don't think he'll listen to you. Mainstream media and Reform have told him that asylum seekers are affecting his life so he probably won't listen to how small the porblem is.

As for Colombia: I assume the majority are from Venezuela and their figures may be screwed because a lot of theirs want to get past the Darien gap and travel up to the US

The global war-mongers' are to blame.

'War' and bombings have become a 'business commodity' - when we stop carpet bombing defenseless civilians, period ! - then all refugee crises' can be tackled.

when we have presidents and prime ministers saying 'we stand' with the carpet bombings & bombers - there is not a lot going to change anytime soon.

we can add The Lebanese refugee's to the list - they have a right to live and remove themselves from an attack that isnt theirs.

I'm sorry, the mess this country is in isn't caused by the tiny number of asylum seekers we take in. It just isn't
Last year 2023 ;

Official figures;

1,080,000 (1 million and 80 thousand asylum seekers and migrants came to this country) LEGALLY

Out of this figure ; 40,000 came on small boats, that just under 3.8% of the total.

BECAUSE WE NEEDED THEM for hospitals, care sector, hospitality (hotel workers, restaurants, chefs, rural workers for fruit picking etc..)

Exactly. it's such a small "problem". It genuinely saddens me that the political classes allow the demonisation of asylum seekers so they can have a problem to solve and, more importantly, a scapegoat to blame for their own mismanagement of the country.

No that's not what he's saying.
He's saying due to Brexit it's more difficult to communicate and co ordinate with the french authorities. It's obvious to anyone who isn't a brexiter
Because communication has always been a strong part of the Anglo French relationship until brexit.

What complete nonsense, you can justifiably say its a disaster (financially). Not this. Were the french enforcing the border more pre brexit? No they weren't and that was one of the reasons the xenophobic public voted for brexit.

Communication between police forces, cooperation within the EU. Surely even you can see it's easier to share information with a country that's part of the same system than one that is outside of that system? Please tell me you get that.
