Monzo Bank

My mate says I should sign up, mostly cos they make zilch on the exchange rates, and I buy a lot of stuff in dollars

Can anybody vouch for them as a company/bank, for obvious reasons, cheers

Not Monzo, but I use Transferwise. Great exchange rates and transfer fees. I have their Hello World debit card, which gives me bank accounts in Sterling, USD and Euros and allows me to easily move money between them and to pay others in whichever currency.

Can’t speak high enough of Monzo. Really good customer service, great app and pretty efficient. Good example this week: I lost my wallet on Sunday. My Monzo card was cancelled immediately and I already have my replacement. My Barclaycard? I had an hour long phone call with the company yesterday and answered many security questions. I still don’t have my replacement card

Yes they're excellent. They made a very slight balls up with me early on - they give me commission-free transfers for life now :)

They are FSC covered so you don't need to worry about them going bust unless you have more than £85k in your account.

I use them. Good for going abroad, good for buying things in other currencies, good app etc.

I've just told my Dad to move his money out of there. Being abroad, he can't really take the risk at the moment.

I had been considering switching to Monzo, but thankfully I never in the end.

If it does go to the wall, hopefully it won't lead to confidence in online-only banks disappearing - it's a great idea imo.

Switch to Starling!

Online banks are so much better than "normal" banks. It's so much easier to do almost every transaction except pay cash in, compared to yer Lloyds

you can pay cash in anywhere displaying a PayPoint logo, which is most shops ie spar, co-op etc. there is a £1 charge.

I know, worse than traditional banks.
Although if you have the new Monzo plus you can pay in up to £200 a month charge free

How old are you ;)
My kids and their mates - 30 somethings swear by Monzo. (None of them need worry about the 85k loss)
I’m ancient and have moved to Nationwide because that’s as rock and roll as I get these days
