monkeymfc upsetting Sheff Utd fans

Has Sheff Utd's post relegation spending been any more reckless than our Assombalonga, Fletcher etc "smash the league" parachute payment spending spree ?

Maybe the only difference here is that we are fortunate enough to have chairman who repeatedly props up the finances when they don't stack up.

"The only reason we haven’t probably cut our cloth more is due to lack of interest. Yes we could have offloaded Berge for 10m perhaps or Ndiaye for 15m but I wouldn’t consider not selling players for half their market value to be somehow lavish."

I think someone needs to explain the concept of market value to this poster!

I cannot access this but I know Middlesbrough FC are lobbying the EFL to end parachute payments or at least look at ways to reduce the massive cushion and mammoth advantage those clubs have over every other club in the Championship.
Sheff U were reckless because they spent money they didn't have and now owe two clubs. They are under embargo because they bought players through instalments. They couldn't afford the second transfer instalment payment of one player and yet still went ahead and bought a second player who they then couldn't afford the later instalments for either. They couldn't afford the later payments for Rhian Brewster's £23 m from Liverpool and yet still paid Genk the first down payment for Sander Berger.

Do you think it’s an age thing?
Years ago Rod used to be a decent journo getting stuck into all sorts of good stuff.

Over they years he turned into an aging gammon parody
See Morrisey et al

Not sure, but a quick read of his Wikipedia reveals he's always been a nasty piece of work. Not sure Morrissey has ever accepted a police caution for assaulting a pregnant woman either.

Just take this passage on the sort of thing he thinks is fit to post on a platform similar to this:-

In January 2010, the press drew attention to allegedly racist and misogynist comments posted under the username "monkeymfc"—a name Liddle has used—on Millwall Online, a fan club web forum with no official connection to Millwall Football Club. Liddle at first attributed some of the comments to opposition fans logging in under his name to embarrass him. He later admitted he had written some of the posts that were being criticised, including one in support of the BNP excluding Black and Asian people from the party.[46] Another post, in which he joked about not being able to smoke at Auschwitz,[47] led to his being asked to explain what he meant in The Jewish Chronicle.[43] While he said in June 2014 that his comments were taken out of context, he does not regret making them. "No. Never. Absolutely not. I thought about my mates at Millwall Online, God I respect them so much more than these other people, these ghastly F***ing people."[30]

Am sure Liverpool wouldn't take action against a fellow English League Club but has there been any mention as to whether Genk might seek a winding up of Sheff U for failure of payment - or does it become a UEFA issue?

Maybe Rod sees it as carrying on his punk mission from when he was lead singer of Dangerbird. Long hair, pink suit, on stage in Whitby or practising electric guitar in a bedroom window near the Avenue shops, Nunthorpe are my earliest memories of Rod Liddle.

Hang on Rob, you're saying that beating up pregnant women is "punk" ?

The man is vile, and the fact that you're somehow making light of it, simply because he used to hang around is the same circles is not a good look. I look forward to the next time someone posts some racist or homophobic stuff on here, you will excuse them as on a "punk mission" and they wont be banned.

Or maybe he's just a racist, wife beating bellend and the fact he used to play guitar and wear a pink suit is completely irrelevant?

Maybe his major crime is being slightly more left wing than Jeremy Clarkson.

I think hes a great journalist, not afraid to say things as he sees them. Both his columns in the ST are very readable, his sport one is normally very supportive of Boro. Can't see the article as out of the country but anything that stirrs uo the Sheff Utd fans at this time of year is fine with me. They're a very educated lot. Quote:

Basically Rod needs to get himself ****ed off and write about a subject he knows something about. Like what it’s like to be a **** or summat.

There you go Rob, your subject matter for next week's article. Also he should be encouraged to get out the pink suit and practise his guitar for a comeback, we're a tollerant society aren't we?

THAT is his major crime?

Are you suggesting that calling out Rod Little for his intolerant bigotry means society isn't tolerant? Superb mental gymnastics.

I think I've previously listed the awful things he's said, I can't be bothered this time but he's not someone I'd want to be apologetic for or defensive of.
