Millwall tickets 3000

Our following at Millwall from memory has has been approx 1,500 to 2,650 so 2,350 is actually more than normal.

I Imagine the Club were offered either 2,000 or 3,000 - sales have proved enough to justify taking both tiers.

It never been as popular as other London grounds such as QPR, Watford, Fulham, Brentford and Charlton.

Its only once failed to reach general sale once - when we played there under Wilder and only had the Upper Tier.

If the Club had invested more in the playing squad this Summer, I could have seen 2,700 to 2,800 been sold for Saturday's game.

Last Saturday my guess is gthe Club lost the revenue from 2,000 tickets, because they have failed to improve the squad by the time of the game - thats about £60k in revenue
But £60 000 wouldn't buy you many players. Plus the lost revenue at Millwall would be lost to Millwall not Boro.
Obviously I hope we bring in a couple more players very soon.

I think it's a class away trip but it's not on the tube, not the nicest part of London and legacy reputation would put people off I think. It's also probably a chew on to drive to.

The lost revenue refers to the Swansea match.
Yes I understand but is in the thread about Millwall and how we haven't sold more for the New Den. Yet it is still a very big away following.
£60k is a total guestimate or guess for extra income from Swansea game.
If we had bought Chuba would we have put several thousand on the total crowd? Or would they still be on holiday?
All hard to say and sadly these days £60k maybe only buys you some of the wages of the agent rather than the fee of the player, that was a long, long time ago.

Remember it is 5 minutes on the train from London Bridge which is itself connected by underground to all of north London. I think there is still a wrong and dated perception here but the New Den is the easiest London ground to access for most people with the bext dedicated away fan facilities. But it will take time to shake off an image carefully fostered in book and film for decades.

I would add that compared to previous years we didn't held back for long, if at all, last season, that may have been a problem for some people as sometimes it would be about half an hour at times in previous years.

As someone who has lived in SE London most of his life, and in areas where Millwall are the team (eg. Downham), many of their fans like their reputation and image. We'll see a few of them in the stand to the left, being menacing behind loads of stewards and police and a very large space. They hate it when "only hard in the movies is sung" <laughing emoji>

To be honest if any of them actually wanted trouble they could just go to any of the pubs around London bridge pre-match and give it the biggun.
Football hooligianism in the modern age is largely a well rehearsed theatrical performance.

I don’t think that’s true. Millwall is well up on the list. We’d never take that many to Watford and could never take that many to either of Brentford’s grounds. Fulham is certainly a favourite but we haven’t been able to go there for several years, or to Charlton. And QPR is a bit crap.

Watford only offer 2.2k and Brentford much less.

It really is all Millwall have got- i.e. very old reputation and image.

What they could achieve i.e. promotion makes their future look much brighter than their gloomy past.

You could park at Brent Cross shopping centre it's free. Then tube direct to London bridge
Brent Cross gave a sign saying you’re liable for a fine if you’re seen leaving the car park and not going into the shopping centre. Not sure quite how they monitor that (if at all)

Great away day IMO, Borough Bridge is full of historic pubs, and the atmosphere is great, 5 minutes from there on the tube and you are at the New Den, Millwall lads are great to have a drink with, inside the stadium you get a few playing up to their old reputation, but I found it quite funny....police are always all over when Boro take a load onto London, due to our old rep...but never seen one bit of bother and I have been 3 times to Millwall.
