Born in Shropshire and moved to Manchester when he was 12. Man City fan as well. Sadly died last year if I’ve got the right Wikipedia page as it lists him as a Soccer Saturday reporter.

Can always remember this match, for different reasons. The Family and I (6 of us) had flown to Benidorm that day and we went out to see the match in the “Rose and Crown” bar. When Bamford scored, us (and the other Boro fans and most neutrals) went crazy. It gets to injury time and I am purring inside, getting ready to deliver some great news when… Kike scores! The pub erupts again, except me, who has my head in my hands. ”What’s up with you” they all ask as they are dancing around. I had a tenner on Boro to win 1.0 at 50/1! It’s the first time I never celebrated a Boro goal. We still had a great time in Benidorm though!

I remember seeing the opposite of this at the Riverside, a Boro fan celebrating wildly when Sunderland scored a consolation goal in injury time. He'd backed 3-1 Boro and had just won a fortune! 1998?
