Midweek Fixtures

The England cricket at The Oval is going ahead tomorrow. (Today's play was cancelled). I'm very pleased because I have a ticket and have been looking forward to it for ages. Apparently plans for National Anthem etc. before start of play, and then a couple of minutes silence.

I only mention all this, because I think if other sports are happening this weekend, then football will definitely be back on midweek. (I don't really think it should have been cancelled this weekend TBH).

Interestingly, tomorrow is still going to be Day 3 so they are going to have to go some to get a result.

No fancy dress which is a shame but probably the right decision in the circumstances.

Hope you have a cracking day Cuthbert.

Thanks mate. Could be an exciting 'Test match' with the condensed time, both sides might really go for it. (ECB were seeing if they could extend to Tuesday. I don't know if that's no longer on the cards)?
One of our group had suggested that our fancy dress theme should be 'Love Island'. Given that we're a bunch of slightly overweight average looking blokes, without big muscles (and I probably wouldn't get in wearing a G-string and some sort of mankini top over my moobs).... it's probably a good job there's no fancy dress!

I think it would be reasonable to expect that the midweek games would go ahead.

The weekend I kind of get as it is too raw perhaps, but by Tuesday people will have come to terms and we should try to normalise the days before the funeral

I can see the midweek fixtures going ahead but then next weekend being another full cancellation, citing Police availablity due to the Funeral on Monday.

It's what she would have wanted.

Think SA didn't want to extend as they're flying to India next week.

Tbf both the other Tests in this series have been over in three days, so it's a bit of a bonus if you have Sunday or Monday tickets. Actually wonder what the availability is like for Monday now?!

Yes. It just takes one person to turn up dressed as Oliver Cromwell and it could kick off.
But you can say that at any point in time, it just takes one person to dress up as Hitler and it could kick off, yet it isn't banned 12 months a year.
