Midfield 3 with Payero now fit

He won't change the winning team unless there's a nock but our bench will look a lot stronger

Daniels
Jones Dijksteel Bamba McNair Bola
Howson Crooks Tav
Watmore Sporar

Stojanovic Fry Taylor Hernandez Siliki Payero Uche

Harsh on Coburn but I think Wilder was angling that he wants his youth players either out on loan or in the youth team.

I'm not sure how we could drop anyone at this moment in time, they were excellent Saturday.

Even thought Peltier was excellent against Preston so I was gutted for him getting injured

tough call , but I would start payero on the bench and it might be a spark tav needs.... love tav but recently no end product, certainly has skills ....

They seem to be doing a lot of fitness training normally done in preseason. Which makes sense given the issues we have.

I reckon Payero will eventually ease Howson out of the team and then replace Tav when we sign a decent CDM.

I was going to ask for those that watch our training on a regular basis have you noticed any subtle or big changes in our style under wilder.

Warnock was renowned for the amount of time he gave players off, especially after a win, it seems clear that CW thinks their fitness and conditioning is way off.

I can't see Payero replace Howson or Tav, not now or in the future. I think he is more likely to get some time of the bench for Watmore or Crooks. Howson'srole isn't one Payero can do I don't think.

I think he'll be relying on suspensions and injuries to get on the pitch.

Coburn should be on the bench ahead of Uche for me. If we need to nick a goal who are you bringing on?

Agree he's not an anchor, but can see him replacing Tav or Crooks in the future, I like them both but he's clearly our most talented midfielder. Obviously being effective with that talent is another thing and time will tell, but wouldn't be surprised if he was seen as our best player by the end of the year. I really don't see him in Watmore's position at all either. Watmore's a forward, Payero is very much a centre mid.

He'll rightly have to bide him time for now though (barring injury/suspension) unless he puts in an outstanding performance off the bench that forces the issue.

He's a no.8 isn't he, or at least that's where he's played his football back home and in the U23 national side.

Wilder likes his second striker to play deep and link up the play - he's definitely capable of doing that I think.

He looks to have bags of talent, but I still think he'll have to really play well to dispose either of Crooks or Tav - nice problem to have though and one we've not had for a couple of seasons at least.

Yeah I think he's primarily an 8 based on what I've read and what I've seen from him so far.

Probably have to agree to disagree on the second striker point, I don't really see it myself but then I doubt either of us have seen enough of him to be sure anyway (unless you're a closet Banfield fan!).

I'm think the move to a midfield 3 will massively help his chances given playing on the right of a 3 is I believe where he played most of the time at his previous club.

Could potentially see Tav sold in January if the right offer comes in? Would need to be silly money for me, but if we bring in a specialist DM and have Crooks and Payero to make up the 3 then we may feel we can afford to let him go, particularly if we have Howson, McNair and JLS as cover.

I don't think it'll be long before Payero nails down his place tbh.
Silly money for Tav? based on what exactly?

Let’s be honest warnock couldn’t care less about midfield as it was all about get rid get it up on the final third hence why he played some one like tav at right wing back.

so Payero was never going to shine in a side devoid of any mf plan other than stop the opposition with enforcers and stoppers.

under wilder he should have that space to show what he’s about and more importantly have the runners to go there with him.

possession was almost A dirty word under Warnock but we’ve seen in in only his first three games how different wilder views this.
