Middlesbrough's renaissance under Warnock - Tony Pulis claims he 'played a little bit of a part in it' [Gazette]

Uncle Tony would not recognise the truth if it walked up to him, smacked him in the face with a wet haddock whilst shouting “Hi Tony I am the truth”. Unfortunately, for people like Uncle Tony, the best liars are the ones that tell the truth most of the time. Sadly, football management is often a world filled full of promises, but constructed by liars.
That opening sentence made me laugh out very loud 😂 Absolutely spot on

This is a decent website for Tony Pulis and his ilk

I for one would rather die on my feet trying than live on my knees .
I''m sure Jose feels utterly shamed by his successes at Porto and his first championship at Chelsea. I'm sure Karanka sees our promotion to the prem as a nothing but an indication of his own lack of confidence.

Fact is, it is easier to get tight defensively than to be free flowing in attack. It takes great technical ability, higher quality thinkers and ultimately a bigger wage budget. Playing defensively is a sign of pragmatist thinking, pure and simple. Pulis realised that that Britt is rubbish and other than Traore we lacked creativity, so he was right to focus on defensive play. Yes it was like watching paint dry, but it was 2 wins away from success.
