Middlesbrough v Bournemouth Allowed 1000 fans

The only way I can see it being an issue if some of the 1000 act like idiots.

There'll be loads of space, stringent stewarding, any issues will come from fans not behaving appropriately.

I'll be going with a mask that I'll only take off when I'm in my seat, won't have drank, and will ensure that I'm distanced from anyone else in the stadium.

Far more risk for me at work, or going shopping.

The question I have is what next as does this mean that fans are now back now or will it be a one off until the foreseeable.

the other issue is with fans now back in some capacity will this then lead to them stopping showing the games on line “legally” or least free to season ticket holders???

This video made by returning fans last week at a test game - gives a pretty good indication of the experience on Saturday. I shared it earlier in the week but now that we have 1000 going to the Riverside it is maybe a good thing to watch in advance.

No.

That only stops when stadiums are back at 50%+ capacity, which isn't happening any time soon.
Hence the 500 fans who renewed but missed out on a season ticket being given a streaming pass for the season.

I watched the ajax game midweek v Sparta Rotterdam (On tv) and they had a sizeable crowd but they were instructed not to shout or talk loudly and were encouraged to clap to make noise instead.

Glad I didn't get any tickets. Looking forward to our lockdown in sunny Gateshead. Don't let them open the ground until I can get there.
Other side of christmas if Bolton is anything to go by.

This situation is not about looking after number one, in reality there is no such thing, we are all connected and reliant on each other, if we all keep each other safe, we keep ourselves safe, that's how it works.

It's the same on a country level, putting your country first does not protect you it makes you more vulnerable, we have to positively connect and cooperate with others. Leaving people to die or live without hope in other parts of the world, after war, natural disasters or absolute poverty does not protect us, people can only live for so long in such circumstances before they fight back or demand something better and rightly so, who wouldn't as they hear about the other half of the world gorging in the trough of capitalism whilst they are left to rot or get exploited.

I appreciate some of the comments on this thread about whether it is the right thing to do and individual situations especially after the Warnock positive result announcement.

The thing is that every one of the 1000 people (of which I am one) need to make the decision on whether or not they risk themselves or others by going. The other thing is that COVID is not going away and this is a trial to determine what level of normality we can risk.

The EFL and the government will be monitoring the results of the trial and the short term future of football is dependant on people being sensible and trying this out. So I think it is a positive that Saturday is happening and we should all do our bit to follow the guidance and take part in this trial. That said if individuals think it is a needless risk then they should not go.

I appeal to everyone to watch that 3 minute video that I have posted above. It shows exactly what to expect from a fan trial, albeit at a women's game in the south of England. But they were also going to an unfamiliar new home stadium for their team. You will hear and see that they felt very reassured that their safety was being looked after and they enjoyed the experience.

My issue Gaz is about the risk of transmission from one area to another where the virus is considered to be more prevelant, to such a degree, that restrictions are in place. I am missing out like many are and pray for things to get back to normal asap. The more we all sacrifice now, the sooner that will hopefully be. My issue is not directly with Johnny himself it is the fact that when restrictions are in place and people travel around to other areas, that increases the risks of the virus being spread. I understand that the younger you are the less at risk you feel for you and some of your loved ones, even if you get the virus, but the older you are or the more vulnerable anyone is the risk to others is inadvertently greater. Thats my point, clearly some people look at things personally, I try to look at things not just personally but for others too. It is who I am and if that makes me appear self righteous, so be it.

Non league football has carried on in 'lockdown' areas such as Oldham, Manchester, Bolton etc, with crowds allowed of up to 600 depending on what level.

As it stands Northern League football is still carrying on in Tyneside, Durham etc

I am not clear what the point you are making here Shaun71, but I do know that the areas you mention have a high spread of covid-19 whether there is any correlation though, I don’t know.

I do know that the more people expose themselves to social interaction, the more risk they expose themselves and their families to catching this potentially deadly virus or passing it on to others less fortunate. Going to work and the supermarket are more of a necessity than a football ground, a pub etc In my book. We are all making sacrifices, it just seems some are prepared to make more than others, which, the virus will be grateful for. The younger folk of today will be old one day if they are lucky, I wonder what they would think then or if they or their loved ones suddenly fall into a vulnerable group unexpectedly, I am sure we all know the answer to that one.

I can see conflict between 12th man and red faction supporters with the stewards sat in the west stand, who dont like to remain seated during games and will just treat this experience like any other game held at the stadium. But i hope that wont be the case

I`ll be wearing a N95 mask on Saturday take some pocket sanitiser, I wont bother with the concourse and will be up out and away at full time.

Everything else is in place from the football club.(y)

Due to the lack of concessions at half time I will be taking a bottle of root beer & selection of pocket cheese!

Unfortunately, due to Covid related restrictions I will not be in a position to share, so please don't approach me if you see me chomping on a Cheddar or enjoying a Emmental.

Both 12th Man and Red Faction are part of Middlesbrough Fans Forum and therefore have been in close consultation with the club about this game - they know the score completely. Don't worry about them.

Remember everyone to wear your mask to the ground tomorrow.

At what point can you remove your face covering? I can see anything on the guidelines for the game.

It does say that you should wear them while in the concourse, do you need to continue to wear them until seated, or as soon as you leave the concourse?..........common sense would dictate that they are worn until seated, but we all know that common sense is not that common.
