Middlesbrough player records that will be broken?

Who/what is the current record for most league goals in a season?

I agree the most caps/goals won't EVER be broken.

We'll see transfer records broken, and see players hit 100/150 games for the club and 50/100 goals for the club i think but thats about it.

Transfer fee paid and received will both go within the next season or two. Money not really a fair yardstick though.
Lots of Riverside stadium player records will go.

Tallest player Boro have had from what I can find online is Aden Flint 6ft 5.5inches, which although tall is still a beatable record. I think we have also had a few players around the 6ft4 and 6ft5 mark.
Shortest player I could find who played for Boro is also the shortest player in Premier League history is Alan Wright at 5ft4(an inch and a bit shorter that the little fella), but I very much doubt this record will be beaten.

Most capped player? Currently Schwarzer I think.

Most England caps?

Most yellows and reds!?

Fastest goal?
McNair has made 38 appearances for NI since signing for us. Only 14 to beat Schwarzer's Australian record of 51 internationals playing for us. He averages 8 per year. It's distinctly possible, in fact I'd say probable over the next couple of years or so.
Can't see us holding an England international beyond 26 caps which is Wilf's record whilst playing for the club.

59 league goals in a season from George Camsell.

Never, ever getting broken.
Absolutely no chance of that then. Was that top flight?
What is say, the top 5 or 10 LEAGUE goalscorers? Do you know? I've had a look online but dont trust many stat websites as they seem to have different stats.

Jimmy Greaves is the last player to score over 40 in a top tier season league goals only. Mitrovic scored 43 last season in the 2nd tier.

Just thinking about it this morning, with Harry Kane breaking Tottenham's all-time goalscoring record, but which club records do you think could conceivably be broken in the future?

I don't think there's a chance of the appearance record (Tim Williamson - 602 games) or goal record (George Camsell - 345 goals) ever being broken, as players don't stay at the same club for anywhere near the same amount of time and it's a lot harder to score than it was in the earlier days of football.

That's not a criticism of previous goalscorers, it's just a mathematical fact that there are far fewer goals in games than 50-60+ years ago.

Most of the "records" tend to be Riverside era etc.
Agree. You’d need 19 years of around 20 a season to break Camsells record. Unless we unearth the next Messi and he’s a local who won’t leave then that record will survive

Only a GK could realistically beat 602 appearances. 15 years first choice with no injuries would be required. Not impossible, but very, very tough

Second tier. But with his goals in the next season he become the first player to score 100 goals over two seasons…the only player to match this is Steve Bull at wolves, but he did that in tier 4 and 3, camsell did it in 1 and 2

Have you looked at all of the relegations?

Assists should never come into the equation. Lots of them are mishit shots or misplaced headers. They're basically the last one to touch it before the goal is scored.
Goal scorers are over rated.. just the ones that make the ball go over a painted line..

1 second out of a 5400 seconds.. just daft.

Giles and Barlaser aren’t racking up misplaced shots and headers.. golden boots served up on a plate.

Why just highlight Giles and Barlaser?

There's plenty given 'assists' for misplaced shots and passes, or just was the last to play the ball prior to some individual skill from the goalscorer.

I wonder just how many games would Tim Williamson have played for Boro if his career had not been interrupted by WWI ? Incredible when you think of the seasons he had to miss in the middle of his career.
