Middlesbrough Lockdown Confirmed

So basically you don't give a **** what your selfish decisions mean for anybody outside your own family ?

This is the reason why the UK is in the state it is now

No it isn't. It's because of over-the-top draconian laws being imposed without any kind of consultancy or process, by some awful people in power. People need to think stop hanging on every word the government roll out and think for themselves. What would be the point that you say 'enough is enough', or will you forever keeping doing as you are told, no matter what it is?

Some really selfish people about. This government are a shambles, but if people had done what they were supposed to do in the first place we wouldn't be going through this again now.
Couldn't agree more, everyone you will see I'm alright, I don't give two hoots Jack, I'm more important than you, rules don't apply to me
The same people will disregard the new laws & until a vaccine has been introduced we will continue to have lockdowns

Behave yourself man. You, or anybody else for that matter do not get to judge what's best for my children, how dare you.

"Sorry kids you can't see nanna and grandad until next year because some people on FMTTM think Daddy is a selfish b****d" 🤫

It actually turns out that Grandparents can be part of an extended bubble for childcare.

Am I ok to ask the Grandparents please all the moral high ground fmttm covid crew ?

Ladies and gents
The robust discussion serves no purpose other than to highlight there are differences of opinion.
Those choosing to do things differently ignore government advice and, in some instances the law.
Those following the guidelines follow the government advice

Those preaching they are ‘right’ and others are ’wrong’ are just taking a punt.

Only the science knows what is right and wrong and there are enough arguing on either side of the debate.

One recent example - the 10,00 pub curfew had no scientific input whatsoever. Even behavioural scientists, who just might have told them what would happen in major cities at kicking out time, were not consulted.

This is the main problem. If the laws were introduced after due consultation, with votes and debate in the Commons, then you accept them and respect them.

If they are willy nilly like a blind man with a machine gun, you do not. In fact, putting trust in such a government may exacerbate the virus rather than calm it.

Sorry Finny, just sick to death of people who I've never met, on here, in the news, on social media and the government dictating what's best for me and my family.
Both sets of grandparents haven't been anywhere but the supermarket or the local football club since April. Myself, I can count on one hand the amount of places I've frequented since March, work, supermarket, corner shop, both sets of grandparents. I haven't seen my mates(outside of work) in the flesh since June. Oh I've been to the rainbow centre twice to take my daughter, yes my daughter not the government's, to swimming lessons.

If people want to wait for a vaccine that's fine, we'll see them out and about in 5-10 years.

Be fair to him he went in with a plan based on local on the spot health advice and has been dealt with a real blow for the town imposed from a distance without any clear understanding of our needs etc.

Rob, I warned on a different thread this would happen before it happened. Not because I’m a clairvoyant, but because the exact same thing happened in Newcastle (see tweet below).

Did Preston think he was going to get special treatment from Johnson and Hancock?

Preston is either deluded or rank incompetent. Possibly both.

Preston has ‘played’ the good folk of Middlesbrough.
He asked for a lockdown. He knows the track record of government therefore knew what to expect (If he didn’t he is dafter than I thought).

He then gets to ‘vent’ off and ends up being the good guy.
His every move is planned.

Totally understand where you are coming from fella.
I see the Irish PM has said they need to start looking at ‘more than just cases’ to determine policy.

Here is an example of he difficulty of putting your faith in ’science’ confirming what many other scientists said at the time.

That graph is impressive. The rule of 6 and other guidelines has worked.

That’s one way of looking at it
And, I suspect, exactly what the government had in mind when they eagerly put up the original graph.
It was tongue in cheek. I would guess the heightened focus that "it's not over" will have led to a lot of people doing a bit more social distancing. It would be nice if someone is carrying out some research on the effects of more mask wearing.
