Middlesbrough Lockdown Confirmed

Clear as mud how they arrive at the logic of this. You literally could not come up with a more stupid Ill thought through policy Imho. All that is going to happen is a small section of the population in Boro and Pools will utilise the open facilities of Stockton Borough thereby risking the spread. Needed to be all or nothing. (Same with Redcar).

I have been meeting up with a mate who lives in Middlesbrough having a couple of beers sitting well apart in his garden over the summer, not been in his house at all.

My understanding is that we are advised against this now?

Yet we can sit down the road in the Southern Cross sharing a room with a load of people we don’t know from Adam?

Correct me if I am wrong on this.

Looks like the wrong people have been put in charge yet again....

You are wrong I’m afraid. It would be illegal for you to meet him in his garden ( not just advised against) and you could be fined if you did.

Also, you won’t be able to arrange to meet him in the Cross either. Of course, if you both happened to be there at the same time (sat separately)...

Theres no difference between any of Teesside towns villages or areas from maybe pools, but from Stockton Billingham to Redcar its one big place.

So i can take my mam to the bingo, sit with her for 2 hours but i cant go and have my tea round hers afterwards?

Well done Mayor, you've just decimated the town.
Ah but he's ok on his guaranteed salary isn't he? Might be something left of the town to run when the lockdown is lifted in April 2021.

👀

I honestly have no idea what i am allowed/not allowed to do (live in boro).

I read the rule of 6 still applies? So does that mean I can still go to a pub/restaurant with a couple of friends? And i'm just not allowed in their house?

How dare they threaten people with fines when the rules are such an unclear mess.

Exactly - How Dare They.

No more adherence.

I think people are becoming confused as to the orders expected of them in regards to mixing with other households.

The argument of "I can't go to my mates house but I can go to the pub with them!?"

No. You shouldn't be meeting your mate at all. The mixing of households is not recommended.

not recommended, but not against the law - my caveat here is I am assuming the Boro rules are the same as we have in Gateshead/Newcastle

you cannot sit at the same table in the pub, only people from the same household (inc. support bubble) can, but you can sit a beer garden up to a max of 6 people and 2 households

Enough is enough. The people of Middlesbrough need to take a stand and say - no more rule by decree.

i've copied my reply to your other thread -

I understand your frustration, and without playing the victim, it does feel like London and the SE have earned some sort of exemption status whilst us grim northerners have to live under tighter restrictions. That said, i believe the quickest way out of this is to play our part and do the right thing as instructed. By not doing so and going against the rules (I'm not suggesting you are or are not btw, I have no idea) it will only drag the process out even longer, and we will suffer longer as a result of that. For me the tighter regulations/laws/rules/guidelines need to be applied nationally for a designated period of time (3 weeks?), regardless of whether a particular area is seeing very high cases or not. Having some places not under local lockdown just means there is license for travel, thus spreading the infection. You cant control what happens nationally by locking down specific areas, it's like having a peeing section in a swimming pool!

Copied likewise:

The laws are passed without consultation, without debate. Therefore they are not fit for purpose.

British people should not "do as they are instructed" without proper rule of law.

I think you are not allowed to mix with anyone outside your household, whether that be at your house or in a pub/restaurant.

You can go to a pub/restaurant, but only with people you live with and those places should have restrictions in place to stop you mixing with anyone from outside your household. (including the new rules that in any public place you should have a mask on unless sat down at a table that is away from other households).

The only way you should meet someone outside of your household/bubble is if you meet in a public outside space such as a park and you should stay 2m apart.

If you are from Middlesbrough you should not leave the area to mix with households in other areas.

I think the government is a ***show, but in someways this makes sense because it allows venues to stay open, but stops the mixing of households which is the likely highest risk of spread. Where households are together in an inside space venues and patrons are legally required to keep distance between groups

again, i understand your point, but I think we all want this over and done with (as best as is possible) as soon as we can. i'll be honest, i'm not too precious about laws being passed in this manner in relation to C-19 (i certainly to not advocate this in other matters) simply because it is a means to an end. If i'm told to wear a mask i'll wear one, if i'm told i cant meet in my parents house i wont go, if i'm told not to mix indoors with mates, so be it. i just want the whole sodding thing finished. STAT!
