Middlesbrough FC Women

Woman's football is becoming more and more popular in this country with the success of the lionesses and the imports coming over with more investment and TV deals it can only keep improving. This could not have come at a better time hopefully we can progress through the pyramid system and maybe add a few imports ourselves along with local talent just like the mens.I for one will be supporting them.

Think it's a poor move by the club. Can't see it being anything other than a dustraction from the mens team. Both financially and in terms of concentration of the goal. Let women's football either thrive or die on it's own merits.
The trolls aren’t even hiding their bigotry and sexism anymore. Somebody give racism raw a call and let them know we have found their sexist pet.

What a great move by MFC, our club is making great strides over the last few years. I look forward to seeing our ladies in action!

Are you actually for real? Tell me what is sexist about anything I have said? Just because I want to see boro mens team given priority because that's the team I support. It doesn't make me sexist. You need educating pal.

It is you who needs educating, maybe look into the plight of women and sport over the last 100 years and look at the progress.

What MFC has done is progressive rather than the sexist regressive nature of too many. This will have a positive effect on the men’s team and the girls of Teesside and surrounding area.

I just don't see why we need to take on a women's team. I support middlesbroughs mens team. I think you and MFC are just trying to create something that is not necessary. We were formed from a tripe supper and evolved into the club we are. Let the women's game evolve into what it will be. I hope it all turns out a fantastic sport with the same attendances as mens football but I don't think doing things like this will help my team. Don't think there's anything sexist in that.

Middlesbrough Football Club

It doesn’t say ‘Middlesbrough Men’s Football Club’ we have a youth team and we’ve had a womens team historically.. it about time it returned under the umbrella of the main club an integrated rather than being an odd unrelated entity.

Common sense prevails

So you've followed the club to see the u21s etc do well. Obviously it's an added bonus but it's the first team you want to see successful. I just can't see anything advantageous to Middlesbrough fc mens team by having this link. Please inform me where this helps us, other than looking good to the press.

Maybe... it gets girls interested more in the game at an early age, who then go on to become supporters of the club, both men's and women's teams, and therefore we get more fans through the door and more revenue?
Do you not think that girls get interested anyway? Sounds a bit sexist to me. My daughters been a life long supporter and we never had a womens team then.

Why would it be a distraction?

It's going to be entirely different people running and managing the women's side, and there's obviously going to be no overlap in terms of players.

The finances involved in the men's and women's game are stratospheres apart, and even if they weren't, the vast majority of club's in the Championship have an affiliated women's team.
Only Coventry and Hull currently don't.
It's not putting the club at any sort of disadvantage to formally affiliate.

Unleas you think Coventry are potentially getting promoted because they're not linked with their women's team, your complaint just sounds daft.

Plus it's not just about the first 11. We are a community club, things like this massively help.

Do you feel MFC should do nothing at all for/in the local community?
I think we've been a great club in the community and long may it continue. However, I've seen the interviews and they are looking at getting into the women's super league. That won't come for free and I dont want any money taken from the mens football club for them to achieve that.not sexist. I just support the mens team and have no affiliation or support for the women's team. I hope they do well but they will never change my weekend mood like the mens team do because I don't support them

Financial distraction is my biggest concern. As for other clubs in the championship having women's teams. Well they're still in the championship

Sorry I just don’t buy what he’s selling. An attempt at masking sexism and portraying it as concern for club finances, a distraction and “I support the men’s team” b8llocks.
Well I just don't support your fake concern or your plea for others to buy into your argument.
