Middlesbrough Centre Square May Have to Change Its Name

Long overdue or a fuss over nothing?

'Does a Square have to be square? In football, when you ask someone to ‘square it’ you don’t expect them to force the shape of the ball into a square, you just want them to pass it to you. When you say to someone ‘be there or be square’, how many of us really want that to happen if they don’t turn up?'

You may have whooshed yourself here. Potentially you have whooshed me while I was whooshing myself.

We could be witnessing a near perfect triple whoosh scenario unfolding right before our innocent little eyes.

Another Whoosh! We now have enough for a square and have gone full circle!

Why not rename as “ The Old Man’s Park” which it was commonly called in the 60’s, when I was a boy. It was where the old men sat on the park benches waiting for the pubs to open.

Late morning update. Middlesbrough has agreed to change the name of Centre Square to Centre Quadripezium because it sounds really nice and they think people will like it. They have also agreed to pay the United Kingdom Institute for Centre Squares, UKICS, £20million a year for the next 20 years if they promise to leave us alone to run the town how we flipping well want to run it.

Gareth Mount, Official Place Renamer for Middlesbrough, told FNOM, ‘If we do have to change the name, and it is likely we will appeal, then we may well put it to a public vote, which is good, and has the added benefit of being educational as it will raise awareness of the names of a range of 2 dimensional 4 sided shapes, or quadrilaterals as we like to call them. Nothing’s decided yet though.’

🤣
