Cardiff City's hopes of landing Wales striker Kieffer Moore have been hit by a fresh blow - from their former manager Neil Warnock.

The Middlesbrough boss is said to have slapped in an 11th hour bid to try to tempt Moore to the north-east.

Moore, who is also Neil Harris' number one transfer target, is said to be mulling over his options this weekend to decide which of his many suitors to join.

Stoke, Derby, Preston, QPR and Millwall have also been chasing Moore, who appeared to be veering towards a move to Cardiff.

However, we are told the Bluebirds and Moore still have ground to make up on personal terms. Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan is weighing up his own plans for Cardiff as he considers whether to continue shelling out money, having estimated to have already used £165million of his own money on the Bluebirds.

Harris still hopes to land Moore, but reports Warnock has also joined the hunt will come as an unwelcome distraction to the man who replaced him in the Cardiff hot-seat.

Moore, who stands at 6ft 5in, knows he would be perfectly suited to the direct style of play Warnock adopts.

Harris also feels Moore's stature, and ability on the ball that he has shown with Wales, means he can make the front-man the focal point of his own team.

According to the Northern Echo it has come down to a straight choice of Middlesbrough or Cardiff for Moore, after the two clubs had £2m-plus bids accepted by Wigan.

They say Boro will "make a final push in the next 24 hours and remain hopeful of persuading the Wigan striker to turn down Cardiff City in order to sign on at the Riverside."

Moore has spoken to Harris and Warnock as the tug-of-war breaks out over his future. He is aware the Cardiff or Middlesbrough sides would be built around him.

*Warnock accepts Cardiff are still favourites to land Moore, but remains hopeful some last minute persuasion can do the trick for Boro.*

Anyone think the wiley old fox is going to bag his catch from under Cardiff`s noses?(y)

This ‘deal’ has been going on for over a week to my knowledge.
Time enough for the lad to make up his mind.

‘If he wants more time he doesn’t want to come to Boro’

Warnock’s words not mine.

I don’t think Liverpool will be in touch now.

If he hasn’t decided by teatime tomorrow, I would move on.

Could have picked him up for free a couple of years ago by the sounds of things. He was a great player in the lower leagues.

11th hour bid my ****. I'm fairly sure we've been in for him all along. Still whatever sells you papers (or more likely these days, gets you clicks).

If you note the source: its an article published online today.
Not my words.
Dont shoot the messenger.

I agree with your final sentence BTW.(y)

It may be that we've only had our bid accepted in the last couple of days, but they allowed us to speak to him. Seems we have now had a bid accepted, and if the local Cardiff paper is to be believed we may be favourites.

I don't know enough about him to know how to feel about him, I just remember thinking that he roughed up Moukoudi and his pace and runs were good for a big lad in the away game

If we do get him the number and type (i.e. those eyeing at least the play-offs) of clubs who were supposedly in for him is a good sign.

I think we could start to see a team forming if we get him, Amos and Hoilett.

...................Stojanovic
Dijksteel.......Hall........Fry......???
.......Howson.......?Amos?.....Tav
???.......?Moore?.......?Hoilett?

Would still be a specialist RW and LB away from a decent side though

Gazette now reporting Moore is not our No 1 target “as the saga rumbles on”! Also reporting we haven’t bid for Junior Hoilett.

Moore seems to be putting clubs off with his wage demands. I hope we aren’t getting held to ransom by F***ing Kieffer Moore. If he doesn’t fit in with what we think we can afford move on to the next on the list.

Reads like Warnock is getting frustrated and the likes of Wigan / Cardiff playing keep-ball until they extract the biggest wad from Boro.
If they play at silly blighters for long enough those clubs may end up not getting anything.
