Middle-class trappings

A Svarovski Christmas Tree star that was nothing to do with me but nonetheless was bought with my money.

I have tellies all over my house, big uns too, but that feels quite working class/new money these days.

Hybrid cars save money in the long run. Are you spending the brass saved on extra indulgence s
A hybrid car saves me cash in the form of reduced BIK tax, it still only gets 25 mpg, but then it does have 400 bhp

and I imagine the depreciation will be crippling to the private car owner, but maybe a bargain to be had for a 3 yr old car for someone. I wouldn't buy a 2nd hand one (certainly not one that I have driven lol)

Having a 'boot room'. I suppose it could be called a back porch or utility room as that's where the washing machine/dryer are, but I suppose boot room is accurate as it's where all our boots and outdoor gear is kept. Might be seen as similarly pretentious as someone putting a laptop in the box room and calling it 'the study'

I have a fondness for Kitchen Aid and Le Creuset. I want a wine fridge at some point so I can start buying some reds to age. My newest thing I want is a dry ageing fridge, I want to give dry ageing beef / making charcuterie a try. That will have to wait until I have space somewhere the missus never goes, as a veggie I'm sure she doesn't want to walk past half a cow hanging there on the trip to her morning coffee.

my "old" Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV averaged 23.9 mpg over three years and 60,000 miles I had it, and my current Volvo S90 T8 is getting about 26 mpg but I am not charging up it overnight due to a disagreement I am having with finance at work about claiming the electricity back.

We also have a cheese and charcuterie board with a selection of utensils, which, to mirror my earlier post, is similar to having a fondue set back in the 80's 😁

:pA cafetiere at work,or as I like to call it a French Press... .My colleagues all accuse me of having "that posh coffee".
