Right Player Wrong Time - maybe sums up the short Boro career of Mick Kennedy. Arriving from Huddersfield as Boro were on a slide towards liquidation in the early 80s Mick's terrier like performances endeared him to the Boro fans. Kennedy went on to play for a host of clubs (he had ten in all in his career) becoming a legend and Hall of Famer at Pompey and playing international football for Republic of Ireland.
He tragically died alone in Ireland in 2019 but was not forgotten his funeral was crowdfunded and there were minute's silences/applause at many of his clubs.
There is a great biography now that remembers the former football hardman and a real 100%'er - someone that plied his trade before the riches of the Premier age but was revered by his fans and fellow players alike - apart from those he kicked.
