Michelle Mone

Starmer and the LP should really be pushing on this. Not just Mone but the whole sordid immoral industrial level scam. Why not state that when elected, laws will be changed, the Serious Fraud Office massively expanded and given new powers as well as the DPP so that anyone involved with this will be going to jail? That should also mean for those that massively profited, they will be jailed for long sentences with no leniency unless they return the money. I know there is something similar for serious drug dealers etc.

Sadly won't be done seriously I presume, because most of them are so rich and connected they're almost above the law.

They'll retire to some tax haven somewhere and the next five generations of their families will live off our money and the same network of connections, old school ties and private members club that allowed this to happen will keep happening for the next generous of chinless wonders.

It isn't our country sadly, it is theirs. The system is working perfectly for the people who run the media and political power in this country as it always has.

I doubt nothing will seriously change unless we have an enormous political change, or dare I say it, a revolution.

Peerages and the HoL or any unelected second chamber has no place in a modern 'just' society, the royal families status, tax affairs, freedom from inheritance tax etc. has no place in a just country, multi-millionaires (whether in government or not) should not be negotiating with HMRC to come to a settlement over unpaid tax, businesses that turn over billions on sales and services in the UK should be paying a fair amount of tax on that revenue.

The fact that this all goes on with blessing of the upper levels of our society and has done for centuries isn't an accident, or corruption of one period of Tory rule, it is the system working as intended.

But look at those dinghies and that bad ginger royal, and let's not forget Corbyn, or that weirdo eating a bacon sandwich. That's all us proles need to be distracted don't you know.....

🎯 Absolutely this

'Sir' Kier probably sees nothing wrong with it.

Maybe we should ask them to return every penny or go to jail.
There should be a special commission of legal and accounting professionals run by an independent police force (probably have to be from overseas looking at our shower) to fully investigate this.

The fact that the good law project has done more than any governmental or law enforcement bodies to bring this to light is frankly disgraceful.

Every single 'VIP' lane contract should be a matter of public record, who they are, who they are connected to, their previous business experience prior to covid, what they bought, for how much and from where. What they charged the UK tax payers for it and how much profit they made.

Then additionally their tax declarations for the period confirming what they paid and when, whether any required an investigation and 'negotiation' to get that tax etc.

Any wrong doing or rank profiteering over 10% say, pay every penny back and five years inside, don't pay it back 15 years inside.

Or ideally, the guillotine...........

Pointless delaying and obfuscation? I doubt that the company has assets anywhere near £122m (assuming it hasn't already been dissolved)
It hasn’t been dissolved and is still an active company but as pointed out millions have disappeared into trusts abroad under the control of Mones husband.

If Labour introduced new legislation it wouldn't help with any previous wrong doing. You can't retrospectively change a law and back date its powers.

But the "VIP" lanes went against a host of procurement procedures already there in place......there to stop this sort of thing. Dig deep and nefarious activities on an industrial scale will be uncovered.

And - surely - these companies should be paying tax on these multi million pound transactions.........? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

The Tories did when a young lady refused to do work experience as she was already volunteering in a museum as she wanted to be a curator. She said she was already doing work experience. Took it to court, court agreed so Tories changed the law and backdated it so that she had to do work experience or lose her benefits

You are probably right. I was replying to the poster who questioned why starmer wasnt talking about new legislation to jail these folk.
