Omar is one of the greatest characters ever seen on TV and that was all down to him. He owned every scene he was in. Was fantastic in Boardwalk Empire as well. Really shocked and gutted by this news

Absolute hero of an anti-hero. The bit in the Wire when he was in court grassing the other Gangster was hilarious.

Really sad news. I listened to a WTF episode (Marc Marons podcast) with him on only a few months ago and he came across as a real nice guy who had to work hard to get to where he was. As mentioned what a role he played in The Wire! Has to go down as one of the best characters of all time.

The Sopranos was definitely only on terrestrial Ch4 originally from 2000 to 2007, but from memory I thought The Wire was originally only on FX.

After it finished the box-set has been shown on Sky & BBC and numerous other channels
