Michael Carrick

Everyone needs to read his book.

The man is a born winner and has the correct mentality to be a success. Learnt from the best of the best and has the all the right attributes to succeed where many of his former teammates have failed in management.

i wonder if what he's gone through will ultimately make him a better manager. I suspect it might. He'll have above average empathy for his players and i cant see him putting unnecessary pressure on any of them.

of course there's no one right way to be a successful leader, but i suspect too many managers look at Ferguson and the success he's had and think there has to almost be an element of fear involved to get the respect of players.

I think from what we've seen Carrick will be more likely to treat them like grown ups and professionals. For me good players should respond to that much better. If a player needs to be treated as a child they shouldn't be anywhere near a professional adult first team anyway.
